themes: depression, shame, insomnia

it's these 2am nights when i lay

in my lonesome by the moonlight

that i understand true isolation

to feel completely and utterly hidden

not the way you'd protect a child

but the way you'd keep shame secret

as i sink deep into the sheets alone

connected by the beats of our hearts

and the tragic cries of our souls

let me hold you just this once

so the world can't hurt you anymore

we'll wipe the tears that mix on our lips

and find something to laugh about

just as the sun finally rises again
