Chapter twenty-two : what the future holds

LACIE WAS AT HOME in her room deciding on what and how the baby's nursery should go. This Saturday, Her mother rosella and her sister were holding a gender reveal party.
Lacie was indeed 6 months pregnant, her parents have found out that her and billy have been courting recently as Peter has made arrangements with Mr Andrews for the two to be married in the future when the times right.
As Lacie was deciding on the baby's nursery, Jane bursted in making Lacie jump of fright.
"Jane knock next time," said Lacie as she laughed at her friends sudden movement
"I can't, I have so much to tell you," said Jane as she sat on Lacies bed
"And it couldn't wait till later?" Asked Lacie as she looked back at the design spread that she had. Jane looked over Lacies shoulder wondering what she was doing.
"Wait... are you planning the baby's nursery?" Asked Jane as she squealed "did you find out the gender?"
"Yes I did and your not finding out till Saturday, besides I'm shocked your mother wanted to help my mother with the preparations,"
"Lacie your practically family how could we not pitch in and help out, besides is billy cool with all this?"
"Well... yes but also no," said Lacie as she mumbled the last part
"Yea but I thought your father talked to my father about you and billy getting married when the times right,"
"Well yeah that's true but I think he's bothered by the fact that it's the baby of Thomas, and not his," said Lacie "well that's enough planning for now besides what was it that you wanted to say?"
"Oh yeah the school house burned down," said Jane "and we all had to study for our queens entrance exams at Miss Stacy's house,"
"How did the school Burn down?" Asked Lacie as she looked at Jane "I thought your plan worked,"
"It did work but apparently the newspaper crew wasn't happy about it," said Jane
"Wow I'm sorry to hear that, well at least it's getting rebuilt that's a good thing," said Lacie, Jane nodded as Lacie had a good point
Lacie stood up as she dusted her dress off
"Well anyway I'm off to Charlottetown to break the news to River about my engagement, want to come with me?" Asked Lacie
"I would but I have tons of studying to do," said Jane as she made a disgusted face
"Ok good luck," said Lacie as she grabbed her hat and umbrella before heading out to Charlottetown to see River.
As she step her foot out the door a figure approached her, it was Billy Andrews
"Hey where are you going?" Asked billy as he looked at Lacie who was dressed up "you aren't seeing someone else are you?"
"No I was making my way towards Charlottetown to tell River about our engagement in the future, now if you'll excuse me I have to get there before the faxing company closes," said Lacie
"Well I was hoping we could have a picnic but maybe tomorrow," said billy as he walked away, Lacie heard what he said and felt bad So she turned back around.
"You planned a picnic? For us?" Asked Lacie billy nodded
"I did but if that's important then go ahead, we can always have it tomorrow,"
"Actually... I can talk to River tomorrow so where is this picnic?" Asked Lacie as she walked towards billy
"Right this way," said billy as he gestured Lacie to go in front of him, so Lacie took the kind gesture and walked in front of billy

As Lacie and billy arrived at the picnic place Lacie gasps, there lied a picnic blanket and some food as there was a lake view in front of them
"You did all this? How?" Asked Lacie as she looked around
"I had some help, from my sisters... they sure know how to throw a event like this," laughed billy
Lacie looked at billy as she gave him a hug which billy happily took.

It was the next day and Lacie was on the train to Charlottetown. She didn't know how she was going to break the news to River about her and Billy's engagement but she knew it would be better to tell him then to not tell him.
As Lacie arrived at the faxing company she asked the front lady if she could see River.
"Hey what brings you here?" Asked River as he smiled while giving Lacie a hug which Lacie flinched at the hug
"What's wrong?" Asked River as he was concerned "did something happen?"
Lacie smiled as she shook her head
"No nothing happened, I just came to tell you something," said Lacie "and please don't get mad,"
"Why would I get mad your my girl?" Asked River as he stroked Lacies cheek, Lacie sighed
"River... I'm courting someone else, I'm sorry," said Lacie as she ran off
As Lacie ran River caught up with her
"Lacie what do you mean your courting someone else?" Asked River as he was about to burst
"River it just happened I'm sorry, I have to go," said Lacie as she left but River once again stopped her
"Leave me alone!"
"Lacie listen to me, I can give you the world if you'll let me," said River as he stroked Lacies cheek
"River... I'm engaged to billy Andrews I'm sorry, I have to go," said Lacie as she ran off this time but River watched as she ran off as he stomped his foot on the ground

It was the day of the gender reveal and all of Lacies friends and family were able to make it. As everyone was enjoying the party Lacie grabbed everyone's attention.
"I hope it's a girl," gushed ruby as she whispered to the girls who were guessing what the baby could be
"Yea but what if it's a boy?" Asked Diana "that would be so cute,"
"Guys... I have some news," said Lacie as she tried to get the girls attention
"Just tell us already," said Anne as she was eager to know, Lacie laughed
"Fine... it's a girl!" Said Lacie as she shouted everyone screamed as they congratulated the girl with hugs and congratulations
"I'm having a granddaughter!" Said rosella as she was crying
"We're grandparents," said Peter as he was crying as well

Sorry if the endings weird I didn't know what to do but anyway only two more chapters then the epilogue so stay tuned for that but anyway hope you like it and if you did vote and I'll write later
