Katya could hardly believe it, her heart soaring with joy at the girl's confession, thankful that they'd both dared to risk it all. She pulled Trixie close, holding her as if the girl might vanish into thin air at any moment.
"You really have no idea how much I've wanted to hear you say those words... I just never really thought you would." The blue-eyed girl whispered before kissing the top of the girl's head.
Trixie hugged the girl impossibly closer, scared that it could all somehow be a dream. Not even in her wildest imagination had she thought Katya would open up like she had, and Trixie was so scared that she could disappear behind her curtain of cockiness and confidence again and deny it all.
"Listen, I know you want to handle everything on your own, but please whatever it is that's bothering you, let me help." Katya said, pulling away slightly so she could look into Trixie's beautiful honey eyes.
"Okay." The doll replied softly.
"Really?"
"Yeah, just... can please get out of here? I-I don't feel like being here right now." Trixie said, feeling suffocated by the building.
"Of course, just let me get these documents signed and we can go to yours or mine, whatever you prefer." Katya said, knowing she still had to do her job.
"Can we please go to yours?"
"Sure, get ready to leave, okay? I'll only be a minute." Katya promised, giving the girl another kiss before hurrying to Robert's office.
Trixie packed up her things and put her coat on, feeling as if she needed the large piece of clothing to protect her. She'd never felt so uncomfortable at the company, always having seen it as her sanctuary despite any disagreements she'd had with Robert. In her mind it had still felt so safe compared to where she'd grown up, but now it just felt like another prison.
She missed the days when she was her own boss, regretting ever singing the contract with Kinky Dolls.
How had she ever trusted Robert?
How had he made her think that he was any better than all the other company owners?
Had she really been that naive?
Trixie didn't know what difference telling Katya would do, but figured maybe talking about it would at least console her a little. For even if Katya loved her, there was no way she'd be willing to free Trixie of her contract, not with all the extra costs it brought. The brown-eyed girl knew she was sought after in the business, but no one would ever gain back what they'd lose by investing in her. No, better not to hope for salvation and instead learn to accept the hopelessness of her situation.
Katya soon returned, keeping her promise which Trixie appreciated. The blue-eyed girl was slightly out of breath and certain that she'd offended Robert at least a little by refusing to stay and chat with him, but she didn't give a damn, determined to not make empty promises to Trixie like her dad had done to her mom.
"You ready to go?" She asked the brown-eyed girl.
"Yeah.. I think so."
"Good, let's go. We'll find a way to fix whatever's bothering you, Trixie. I promise." Katya said.
"You mean well, but you can't promise that, Katya." Trixie thought to herself as they exited the building.
