Rae and Toast headed back to Sykkuno's house that late evening after the games were all done. Corpse was the one who insisted they all bunked at Sykkuno's house for the last night before they'd all head back home.
This way they could rest up and have each other's company for the last time. Pretty sure they were all busy for the coming months and as much as Rae disliked James's company, she loved her Amgiops and they weighed in more than her personal disinterest towards James.
Sykkuno had ordered dinner from a local restaurant, and Corpse ordered ice-cream buckets and Rae lay on the bean bag like lifeless. Mika and Bimbus were in their own sweet world in Sykkuno's room and everyone else, including James were out in the hall.
'Here you go.' James said, placing the ice-cream buckets on the counter. They had each ordered one full bucket, and Rae quickly took her mud chocolate box and dunked into it.
'Why don't you join us?' Corpse offered, although tired, 'We're just chilling anyway.'
Toast was laying on the sofa, already eating and Sykkuno was at the window sill, besides Corpse. James looked at Sykkuno who slightly nodded and then at Rae, and he shrugged. Rae didn't react, because she was out of power cells anyway. All she wanted to do was eat this entire thing and sleep.
James sat on the dining table seat, of course with his laptop and his ice-cream all melted now. None of the amigops were talking, they were only eating the cold ice-cream and licking their spoons silently. Toast was humming and licking his spoon, Rae was digging up the ice-cream vibing to Toast's humming. Corpse was near to sleeping while still scraping off the ice-cream and Sykkuno had his earphones plugged in and was eating his in peace.
This went on until James got off his laptop and touched the cup which held his now melted ice-cream. Dissappointed in the slimy liquid, James sighed, putting it back.
'You're too late.' Toast commented, eyeing the disappointed James, as Rae watched James now.
Corpse was already asleep by the sill, and Sykkuno was holding two ice-cream buckets, still listening to music.
'Yea.' James huffed, 'Got preoccupied.' He said, and Rae tilted her head.
'When are you not preoccupied.' She said, hiccuping, licking her spoon.
'Hardly.' James answered, now looking at her. 'Work gets too busy every now and then.' Rae didn't look back at him, too tired to even finish the conversation she started, and James couldn't stop looking at her.
Toast shook his head, 'So? How long are you here, James?' Toast asked, and Rae ate her ice-cream, her mind skillfully still on the conversation.
'Just few days.' James answered, shutting his laptop and taking hold of the melted ice-cream. 'I'll be off to Washington soon.'
'So why were you here?' Rae asked, eyeing James.
James eyes for a split second went across Sykkuno who was either asleep or very still, seated across the sill. He then cleared his throat, 'Just here for a business thing. I had some issues with my insurance company and some meet-ups with few clients.' James spoke, his gaze dropping to the ice-cream which he swirled with his spoon.
'That's not going to taste good.' Rae said, shaking her head as she got off the bean bag. 'You shouldn't have dragged it this long.' She shrugged, indicating his sour relationship with his twin. She then walked off towards Corpse and dragged the tall sleepy guy to her room so he wouldn't have a terrible backache next morning, bidding them all a good night.
Sykkuno got off too, tired as he helped Toast clear the stuff up and James sat back with his terrible looking ice-cream. He did take a bite of the watery substance, and it did taste bad.
'Don't drag it too long, James.' Toast patted James's shoulder, as he witnessed James's eyes pasted on Rae.
'I did get late. The ice-cream's ruined.' James chuckled, keeping the ice-cream back on the table.
Toast chuckled back, 'Not talking about the ice-cream lad.'
And with that, everyone dispersed, leaving James to himself. He couldn't keep running away from this. Toast was right, he shouldn't be late here. Because he could not afford dragging this too long.

Rae was extremely surprised twice in her life.
One was, when she passed in her finals when she hadn't studied at all
And second was this.
James asking her out.
James Tran. Sykkuno's Twin.
He liked her?

Rae shook her head, as she saw James standing in front of her, the early morning vibes clearly not helping her understand what she just heard.
James Tran had gotten hold of her first thing in the morning and confessed his feelings for her with his long nerve-wracking speech.
Everything about it only made her more confused and a lot angry.
'I am sorry what?' She asked, holding a hot cup of coffee, her long hair all messily left open and she was still in her pyjamas.
James gulped, looking down at the girl who looked like she just escaped a zombie apocalypse, compared to his neatly done hair and iron pressed formals.
'I like you. Really like you.' James said, sounding confident than ever, his face withholding a determined smile.
'That I got.' Rae replied, holding her head. 'But... what...wh...how... why?' She was out of words. 'I mean, what?'
'What do you mean by what?' James asked, confused on such a response. As far as he knew it was either a yes or no.
'I mean, what the actual fuck.'
