wilbur rushed to dial angel's number as soon as she sent her last message. he hated the thought of angel being upset, she always lightened up the mood and was always smiling.
angel on the other hand had felt horrible the whole week, she'd been doing vocal take after take, interview after interview, stressing about covid, crying and then repeating that cycle. she didn't want to bother wilbur as he was busy moving and with uni but angel soon realised wilbur was the only person she felt comfortable talking to at the moment. she would've gone to emily but she knew emily was definitely asleep by now (and she had a sudden urge to hear his voice)
"hi." she breathed out as wilbur called her
"hey angie," he smiled but his eyebrows furrowed as he noticed her breathing pattern, "hey hey, follow my voice, love. breathe in, breathe out."
angel followed his voice sniffling each and every second but she managed to get to a point where she was able to breathe almost normally
"talk to me angel, what's wrong?"
"i don't know will, everything's just built up and it's just hit me. i wish i could see my mum again, i wish i could get this album fucking done, i wish i could walk outside without being scared for my health or my life. i know i seem like i'm overreacting but i'm just scared, wil, of everything, for everything."
"angie it's ok, it's ok. i understand, i know it might not seem like it i understand but i do. everything will be ok ang, you will able to see your family soon, we all will be. you're safe angie i promise."
"i know i know wil but i just can't help but worry i don't get to see my family often and fuck knows when i'm going to be able to see them next, and ugh everything's fucked i cant." angel sighed wiping away her tears chuckling as marsh jumped on her bed
"i know ang i know," he laughed, "listen to me, love. i'm so proud of you, you're working so hard, please remember how much you're going to get out of all this hard work. your family is so proud of you they love you. call your mum soon after, i'm sure she misses you so much."
there was a long pause between the two of them, they couldn't believe what they were thinking.
'i love them.'
those three words hits the two of their minds like a ton of bricks.
sure wilbur knew he liked angel a bit more than someone with a crush should, she'd cross his mind at the smallest occurrence of things and he would bring her up during any conversation he could, but he never knew that is what love felt like
angel had been trying to suppress her feelings towards wilbur deep down into the pits of her mind but the thought of him grew like a tumour and plagued her mind forever and ever. she even found herself watching through his old streams and laughing at the way he ran his hands through his hair and scolding him for all the silly things he'd say
"wilbur?" she asked sheepishly wincing as she thought that he couldve hung up
"hm?"
"would you mind singing me and marshy to sleep?" the idea hadn't really crossed her mind until that second.
angel loved his voice, she would always smile whenever she'd caught snippets of wilbur humming to himself when they were on calls together, she felt at home hearing his voice.
"of course, dear. do you want me to sing anything in particular?" wilbur, on the other hand, was bursting with joy that she'd ask such a question.
"no not really, just anything that comes to mind." angel mumbled resting her head down
wilbur grabbed his acoustic guitar and tuned it up softly, trying not to startle angel or marsh.
"goodnight will, remember to get some sleep too."
"i will dear, sweet dreams." angie smiled at the nickname before wilbur started to sing fake plastic trees by radiohead, a song angel had said was one of her favourites of all time in a recent interview.
wilbur thought about saying those sacred words before she drifted off to sleep but decided it wasn't the time. he played around 4 songs before he could hear gentle snores coming from the other end.
he didn't hang up that night, he continued editing as if nothing has occurred but played a few more songs over the night just in case angel woke up.
