atsumu and sakusa had met at a training camp during their second year of high school.
they had exchanged numbers and texted each a lot ever since.
they would usually call at night if they weren't busy.
lately atsumu had felt like he was drifting.
he'd never really cared of what people thought of him because he had osamu.
if osamu didn't hate him then it was fine.
but now with graduation coming up, and osamu quitting volleyball, and osamu dating suna, atsumu felt as if his brother didn't need him anymore.
one night when the blonde was feel tired and kind of sad if he was being honest he texted sakusa and asked if they could call.

atsumu smiled softly at the heart sakusa included.
it had taken about 6 months for the raven to even call him by his first name.
all of the little things were what made atsumu love sakusa so much.
he hated that he had a huge crush on the germaphobe but he chose to ignore it most of the time.
the two had been friends for about a year now and were in a really good place.
it was hard getting there but it was all worth it in atsumu's opinion.
just being able to talk to sakusa was worth it all.
the blonde looked at sakusa as if he hung the stars in the sky.
later that week sakusa was finally available to call.
atsumu was excited although he was getting upset at himself that the one night he was barely able to keep his eyes open is the one where he can talk to his crush
"hello atsumu," sakusa said as soon as atsumu picked up.
"hiya omi omi," the blonde said smiling although sakusa couldn't see.
"how are you?"
"good now that i'm talking to you."
"oh yeah?"
"yep! how've ya been omi?"
"good, and it's good to talk to you again. you sound tired though, do you want to talk again tomorrow?"
"no i wanna stay on the phone with you please."
"okay."
the two stayed on the phone for about an hour just talking about random things.
"atsu? atsumu?... oh you're asleep."
by now the two were on facetime because atsumu wanted to.
sakusa stared at the blonde's sleeping face looking more peaceful than ever.
the raven screenshotted the sight and then hung up.

when atsumu woke up he saw the text sakusa sent and smiled softly to himself.

atsumu smiled down at his phone.
he couldn't believe sakusa agreed so quickly.
about a month later the two had finally graduated.
it took a lot of time and effort but they did it.
when atsumu saw sakusa at the hotel they agreed to stay at he was so excited he felt like he couldn't contain himself.
"omi!" he smiled nearly jumping out of his own skin.
he wanted to run and hug the ace so bad but he didn't want to make him uncomfortable.
"hey atsu. the bus ride wasn't too bad?" kiyoomi asked since atsumu had to take a bus to get to where they were.
"nope! i slept most of the time so it was fine. did ya already check into our room?" atsumu asked as they were still in the lobby.
"yeah, our room's on the fifth floor."
"okay."
when they got to the room it was really nice.
atsumu almost couldn't believe it.
there were two beds, one next to the bathroom and one by the window and balcony.
"which one do you want?" sakusa asks and atsumu shrugs.
"we can figure it out later," he says as he sets his bag down on the floor next to the desk.
"okay, so should we get going? it's going to be dark soon," sakusa said putting his phone down too.
"yes let's go!" atsumu smiled.
the two walked to the aquarium just down the street.
atsumu had really wanted to go and sakusa had agreed.
"lemme pay for the tickets ya already paid for the hotel room," the blonde said as they got in line to pay before entering.
"no it's fine i'll pay," sakusa said.
"omi pleaseeee," atsumu looked at the taller with puppy dog eyes no one could resist.
"fine," sakusa sighed and atsumu smiled.
without even thinking went to hang on sakusa putting his hands on the taller's shoulders.
he quickly pulled away after realizing what he was doing though, "sorry omi," he mumbled out quickly.
surprisingly all sakusa did was laugh and say it's fine.
as the two were standing in front of a huge wall of glass with hundreds of fish behind it atsumu was mesmerized.
occasionally he would excitedly look at kiyoomi and point out a fish he thought looked cool but then he'd go back to looking at the fish filled water.
the two walked to another part that had many big creatures inside.
"these are kinda scary. imagine if the glass just broke," atsumu said.
"it won't," the raven said like anyone would.
"but what if it did? do ya thing any of these things bite? look at that one's teeth," the blonde pointed to a weird shaped fish that was rather large with what looked to be pointy teeth.
"it'd probably only bite you because you'd provoke it," sakusa said with a slight chuckle.
"i would not! i'd be way to scared."
"yeah you'd probably run away crying like a baby."
"hey that's mean!"
"and true."
"hmph"
later that night the two had dinner at some random restaurant and then called it a night.
it was around 9pm when they got back to their hotel.
"do ya wanna shower first?" atsumu asked and kiyoomi nodded.
atsumu had put his stuff on the bed next to the bathroom and played on his phone.
after the curly haired male finished showering atsumu took a quick shower.
"you gave me the bed next to the window? i thought you'd want that," kiyoomi says.
"i thought ya'd like the view. ya paid for the room so it's only fair ya get the better bed," atsumu shrugs as he tries to towel dry his wet hair as best as he can before throwing the towel into the small hamper in the bathroom.
"oh thanks."
that night as the two laid in bed it was silent.
"omi.."
"hm?"
"i can't sleep."
it was silent for a moment.
"do you want to lay with me?"
"would ya be comfortable with that?"
"i wouldn't invite you over here if i wasn't."
and so atsumu got up- taking the fuzzing blanket he brought from home with him- and laid next to sakusa.
it was quiet for a while atsumu was still painfully awake.
"omi?"
"hm?"
"can we cuddle?"
"...yeah."
the blonde bit his lip to hold back a smile as he scooted closer to kiyoomi and rested his head on his chest.
the raven hesitantly wrapped his arms around atsumu's torso.
"is this alright?" atsumu asked though it was slightly muffled.
"of course, now go to sleep."
"fine.."
i'm so sorry i haven't posted in so long 😭 i just haven't had that much inspiration lately but i'll try and get more chapters out soon!! :)
and like wtf i want to go on an aquarium date so bad hmu if ur down to take me pls jk jk
