Four Slytherin students were currently waiting outside of Dumbledore's office. Aurora, Narcissa, Veronica, and Evan stood anxiously outside of the headmaster's office, waiting for Regulus.

"I swear to Salazar if he gets expelled-- I'll go and rip Avery's head off myself." Veronica muttered, pacing back and forth in front of the door.

"Make that the two of us. Avery always has to stick his nose in everything, if anything, it's his own fault he got punched." Aurora agreed with her friend. She was worried for Regulus too. If he got expelled or if word of what he'd done got to Walburga and Orion, the punishments  would never stop.

"Shit, I just realized, if your parents find out, they won't be too happy to know that their perfect son punched their daughter's fianc-"

"You just realized this?" Aurora said in an obvious tone, interrupting Evan. "And don't call him my 'fiance'. I mean, in a way, he kind of is. But, I don't feel anything towards Avery besides hatred."

"Oh dear, I'm terrified and I'm not even the one in this situation." Narcissa sighed.

At last, the door opened to reveal Regulus Black.

"So? What happened?" Aurora asked her younger brother in worry.

"Well, I just explained everything to Dumbledore, and he honestly didn't even care. I only have a detention with Filch on Friday." Regulus explained.

"Thank Merlin." Aurora sighed in relief. "And thank you. For sticking up for me, even though you didn't really need to."

"Anytime." He said, and they all walked back to the common room.

For the rest of the week Avery actually left Aurora alone for once. The week had felt quite longer than it actually was, and that was due to their end of the year exams. But, thankfully, that was over and Aurora thought she did pretty good on it in her opinion.

"I can't believe the school year's going to end in only three days." Narcissa said as the three girls chatted in the girls dormitories. "But then again, I'm excited for the summer!"

"Ugh, don't remind me. I don't even want to know what awaits me back at the house." Aurora groaned. Her parents would surely lash out at her for her behavior, and she was honestly terrified. But she had no other choice.

"Hey, it's okay. What's the worse they could do?" Veronica reassured her friend, completely oblivious as to what goes on inside that toxic household.

"Oh I don't know, maybe the Cruciatus." Aurora muttered to herself, not realizing that her friends had heard her. Veronica quickly shot up from laying down on her bed to giving the girl a look. "What?"

"Your parents use the Cruciatus curse on you?" She asked, wondering how a parent can do something that cruel to their own child. Despite being purebloods, the Rosier family were quite different. Sure, they believed in pureblood supremacy and all that nonsense, but they would never disown or use a curse at their own child, just for hanging out with someone who was different than them. They also didn't really mind muggleborns or halfbloods, as long as their family didn't associate themselves with them. But they would never voice these opinions out loud or in front of other purebloods. It was something that stayed within their household.

"Yeah, I don't know why you're surprised given my family's reputation and history." Aurora casually replied, as if using a curse on your child was normal. "You know, on the outside, my parents act all high and mighty. And my family may even seem perfect to some people. But you do not want to know what goes on inside. Back when Sirius was still with us, there would be constant yelling. All the damn time. And he had it a lot worse than me. He would go from arguing with them, to limping back upstairs because of the punishments. And then other times, mostly after he left, none of us would even say a word to each other. We would eat dinner, not even exchanging glances. I would mostly stay in my room because I basically didn't have a relationship with my parents, at all. We had to live up to their expectations and had to be flawless and perfect. One mistake, and that defines us for the rest of our lives. After that, we're all of a sudden deemed as 'worthless'. My so called parents are vile and selfish people. They use their power and money to get what they want. They throw money at all their problems, expecting it to be fixed. They even try to buy our happiness with money. But no amount of money can change who they truly are. Monsters."

Everything Aurora had said was true. But in way, she also couldn't really blame them. After all, Orion and Walburga were raised that way by their parents. And the last thing Aurora wanted was to become just like them.

"I'm so sorry." That was all Veronica managed to say. "Just know that we're here for you. Always."

"I know. And I don't know what I would do without you two." Aurora said.

"Ahh stop. You're going to make me cry." Narcissa squealed. "Ugh, come here you two."

And the three girls hugged each other. They felt safe in each other's embrace, knowing that no matter what, they would always be there for one another.

But would they live up to those promises?

After all, there was a war brewing up, and in the end, they would each have to choose a side.

Back in the Gryffindor common room, a group of boys were sitting on the couches, eating candy, laughing and joking around.

"Okay but did you see his face when he saw that his hair was pink?!" A certain Sirius Black exclaimed, bursting out laughing with the other three boys.

"I think we got him good. Now, he probably won't even bother going anywhere near your sister!" Peter squealed, throwing a Bertie Botts Every Flavor jellybean in his mouth, but his face soon turned into one of disgust. "Ew, it was the Earthworm flavor."

"How ironic, wormy." Remus said, taking a bite of his chocolate bar. "And I agree, it'll take at least a week before Avery's hair changes back to normal. He won't be a bother anymore."

"I don't know about that." Sirius muttered, remembering what Aurora had told him in the morning.

At last, the school year was over. The students were currently making their way to the Hogwarts Express.

"I'm going to miss you guys." Veronica said as she walked alongside her friends. "I guess we can still write to eachother though."

"Please, this time, don't do anything stupid to get yourself grounded." Narcissa groaned.

The voices of Aurora's friends soon started to fade, and all she could hear was her fast heartbeat and breathing. In only a few hours, she would see her so called parents again. And she didn't have a good feeling about it. Aurora tried not to think about it, but the thought of her parents lashing out at her kept creeping back into her mind. Before she knew it, they had arrived in front of the great, big, red train.

"Rory? Rory? Aurora!" Veronica called her multiple times, until she snapped out of her trance.

"Yeah, sorry, what was it you were saying?" Aurora asked.

"I was talking-"

"You mean you were complaining." Narcissa interrupted her, causing Veronica to roll her eyes.

"Anyways, I was complaining, about how I have to go to France in the summer." Veronica said.

"And why exactly are you complaining about that?" Aurora asked the girl.

"Well I would love to just go to France and travel. But, I'm visiting my relatives." Veronica explained again. "And you know how they are. They judge every little thing I do. Last time I went, my grandmother was complaining about how I trimmed my hair. And it wasn't even that short!"

"Sucks to be you." A voice came from behind them. Evan.

"What do you mean? You're going too." Veronica said as she turned to face her brother.

"Well, not this year I'm not. There's something I have to attend to this summer, so it'll only be you and mother." Evan replied, almost too quickly. Before Veronica had time to say anything, Aurora spoke up.

"Wait, Evan, have you seen Reg anywhere?" Aurora asked, looking for her younger brother.

"I'm not sure. Last I saw, he was with Avery and Snape." Evan replied truthfully.

"Oh okay, thanks." Aurora wondered what Regulus was doing with Avery and Snape. It reminded her of what she had overheard a few months back. The talk about death eaters. Was Regulus joining the death eaters?

She quickly shook the odd feeling away as they had started getting inside of the train. Most of the compartments were empty and the four Slytherins decided to go into one.

When they were all in, Veronica being Veronica, started fixing her makeup, Narcissa was writing something, Aurora grabbed a book from her bag and Evan just sat there waiting for Regulus.

"Ugh!" Veronica cleared the silence with her groan of frustration.

"What's wrong?" Aurora asked her.

"I smudged my lipstick." Veronica sighed.

"That's why you're mad? Why do you always put your makeup on every two minutes?" Evan asked, rolling his eyes.

"I need to look good. Like, what if I just drop dead right here? I'll refuse to have a funeral whilst looking hideous." Veronica explained, in an obvious tone. "I mean, I'd rather get buried looking good instead of already looking like a dead corpse way before my death."

"I mean, you're going to be dead, so it's not really your choice either wa-"

"Evan, she'll probably go into your dreams and haunt you there." This time Narcissa spoke up and Aurora agreed with her.

"She will definitely do that if we apparently let her have a funeral whilst looking 'hideous'." Aurora mimicked and they all laughed. The door of the compartment opened to reveal Regulus Black.

"Where were you?" Aurora questioned as soon as he stepped in.

"I was with some friends." Regulus simply replied, sitting next to Veronica giving her a kiss.

"Okay, you guys can do your thing, but please don't act all 'couple-y' in front of me." Evan groaned, trying to sit as far away from them as he could.

"Evan, I know you may be incapable of getting the girls, but you don't have to spread your jealousy elsewhere." Veronica said, glancing at her nails.

"Who said I can't get girls?" Evan asked.

They all just looked at each other until Narcissa spoke up. "We all did."

"You don't know that. I have been with girls before." Evan muttered out the last part.

"You know mate, there's a difference between being with people and actually making them stay." Regulus said.

"Oh shove off."

The train passed through the sunny, Scottish, countryside. Fields, flowers, and trees covered the area.

Aurora leaned her head on the window and stared out into the fields. Everything was peaceful. For now at least. She didn't want to even imagine what awaited her back at her house. She wanted it to stay like this forever.

But, nothing lasts forever does it?

The train soon came to a stop and everyone got out.

Her heart beat faster by the second, her hands shaking and her palms getting clammy. Soon, all the voices started to fade, it felt as if someone put a plastic bag over head and suffocated her. She was slowly losing her grip of reality.

But then Aurora felt a hand grab hers. Regulus. It brought her back to reality. And although she was still terrified, she felt more safe knowing that she wasn't alone.

And as soon as the two siblings got out of the train, hand in hand, they were met with the disappointed faces of Walburga and Orion Black. Even from a distance, it was hard to miss that stern look etched upon their faces.

And with one last glance at each other, Regulus and Aurora Black gulped and made their way towards their parents.

Preparing for the storm that they were about to face.
