As soon as math class ended i grabbed my stuff and ran out to the quad where the sophomores were. I was supposed to go to lunch with Keith but i was determined and i was going to get what i wanted. I looked around seeing durk and herb, who was keiths boyfriend sitting by the school sign smoking.
I walked over grinning " wassup" i said sitting next to herb
Durk rolled his eyes passing the blunt to herb " what do you want now?" He asked
I grinned " Valentine's dance? Me and you? Tommorow?" I asked
Herb smiled " okay thats kinda adorable" he said
Durk shook his head "im not gay you little weirdo" he said
I crossed my arms shrugging " i bet i can change your mind" i said
Durk stood up shoving me to the ground " stay the fuck away from me you horny little freak" he said
I sighed just deciding i would come back another time, I stood up feeling pain shoot through my arm i groaned walking away. I could hear breif arguing before herb ran after me. Once he caught up to me he offered to walk me to the nurse. The nurse examined my arm and came to the conclusion that it was the slightest but fractured but it was not a concern. She wrapped it up and went to go get some ice.
As soon as she left herb turned to me sighing " why do you like durk so much" he asked
The mention of durks name faded the pain away " his laugh, his smile, his dreads, and how you can get lost in his eyes" I said
Herb laughed looking down at me " hes got real bad internal homophobia if you asked me" he said
I frowned looking down " any advice?" I asked
He nodded " play hard to get, stop talking to him, walk passed him, and no compliments, Make him miss you... It'll drive him crazy" he said
The nurse came back with the ice and sent us off. We both walked out and durk was standing there i smiled at herb before walking off. Out of the corner of my eyes I saw a confused and remorseful durk looking over at me
I smiled walking back to class just as the bell rung i walked to the back to sit with my friends " hey guys" i said
Keith looked over at me laughing " what did you try to harrass him or something?" He asked
I rolled my eyes shaking my head " no.. Im just gonna leave him alone from now on" i said sighing
Keith frowned " im sorry man, i know you like him a lot." He said
And thats what i did. Every run it at school I passed by him or just talked to herb. On the walk home i went straight home instead of offering to walk with him. I didnt give him what i bought him for valentines day. Although it was killing me inside not to. I went home and stayed there. Durk and his friends walked passed my house and he glanced over seeing my mom was gone. He looked like he was going to walk over but he didn't and just walked away. I went to bed early that night even though there was no school tommorow. Just the dance. Mostly cause my mom would be working untill around twelve. The next morning i woke up to my mom shaking me awake.
She smiled " so did you get a date to the dance" she asked
I shook my head " nah.." I said shrugging
She frowned " well im sure one lucky girl will want to dance with you" she said
I frowned but quickly covered it up with a smile " yeah i hope so" i said
She smiled " so there's someone you have in mind?" She asked
I nodded rubbing that back of my neck " yeah i guess you could say that" I said
She laughed smiling " tell me about her" she said
I lookes down at my lap smiling " shes older then me and shes got blonde hair, shes tall and has the most amazing eyes" i said
My mom looked like she only got one thing out of that scentence " so you like older girls" she asked
I rolled my eyes embarresed " mom! Get out" i said making her laugh
She left and went down stairs to make brekfast. After i ate i watched tv for a while bored out of my mind and it seemed like time was going slower. Around four thirty i went back to my room to get dressed ,once i was done my mom drove me there just as people startes arriving. Keith was in the front wearing a suit and his mom was mass taking pictures of him and herb. I laughed walking over and photo bombing one.
Keith smiled laughing " okay mom you can go now" he said before we all went inside
I laughed looking around " this place is so cheesy" i said
Herb shrugged " i think its nice" he said
Keith quickly nodded in agreement " yeah it's nice" he said
I rolled my eyes walking off to the bleachers sitting down. Herb and keith stayed on the dance floor laughing. I sat there holding everyone's stuff looking down at my phone. I heard someone walk in and walk over to me and tap me on the shoulder.
I sighed " i really can't hold anything else" I said since this stuff was already making my arm worse then it was before i said looking up to see durk in a black suit
Durk rubbed the back of neck pulling a flower from behind his back nothing special mabye one he stole from someones garden " not even this?" He asked
I smiled as he took everything out of my hands setting it to the side.
" im sorry,Im late" he said sitting next to me " I'm cute.. Sometimes Not that bright" he said making me laugh
I looked over at him " i thought you hated me and dances too" i said
He smiled shrugging " i dont like dances.. But i do like you" he said handing me the flower
I smiled taking it " i like you to" i said looking down at the flower
He smiled nodding " good cause otherwise id have to pretend I just happened to be here" he said making me laugh
Before i could say anything herb came running over " finnaly" he said
Keith shot me a apologetic look " i tried to keep him away for as long as i could" he said laughing
