Seizure

I was in seventh grade when I watched a kid have a seizure,
He fell like a tower, crumbling at the knees and his head bounced like an acorn, freshly fallen on the concrete,
His body shook, but the tectonic plates stood still and,
And my feet stayed rooted into the hill as teachers and teaching assistants ran to cradle his bruising, shaven head, to try to cover him up with a tinfoil blanket, reflecting the sun into our eyes.
Everyone thought he would die as an ambulance arrived and carried him off, out of sight and out of mind, the kids were ushered away.
His name was whispered for hours until the word
Made our mouths numb, and the word,
The name was without a meaning.
