Daniel's Point of View-
"Well, since the lock-in begins in a few hours, I guess we could go to a park or something," I had suggested.
Scott merely grinned at me, and with that, he turned his keys in the ignition and the car engines roared. He pulled out of his driveway, and began on the road as I watched him curiously. What could he be planning?
After about half an hour, we stopped in the parking lot of a small little park. It wasn't anything special, it was surrounded by small white picket-fences. Half of it was filled with a small pond, with little tadpoles floating upon the water. There was a gazebo sitting on the grass, greeted by small road stones edged into the ground. The lot was empty, except for one other car beside us.
Scott unlocked the doors, took his keys out, and stepped out. He gestured for me to get out as well, and so I did. Nobody was occupying the park, at least I thought oddly enough, so I didn't see much reason to stay here.
As we walked in, I grew the nerve to ask, "Why did you take us here, it's practically empty."
"Dunno,"
I saw a frown crawl up onto his face, when he saw a familiar face peeking out from one of the gazebos. He stepped out from one of the pillars holding the decoration up, and walked down the steps. "Daniel, Scott!" Nico shouted. Scott looked a little tense at seeing Nico here, but I didn't hesitate to run up to him. He pulled me into a friendly hug, and held me tight.
Scott stepped behind us, and cleared his throat, which was the signal for him to stop. He let me go carefully, and then stood in front of us. "What are you guys doing here?" He asked first. "I should be asking you the same question, yeah?" Scott replied. I turned my head to him, and pursed my lips, telling him not to be rude.
"Looking at the sky," he replied, pointing to the gazebo. He led us up the stairs inside the decoration, and we adjusted our feet to best suit the wooden floors. He pointed to one of the open windows, and we saw a beautiful view of the sky, and the city. "Pretty," I commented. Scott merely nodded, but something told me he still wasn't sure what Nico was doing here. To be honest, I could care less about what he was doing here, but it's great to see a friend.
"You guys ready for the lock-in? Where's your stuff?" He questioned, looking around. I was about to point to our car, but Scott finished my phrase for me, "In the car," he blurted out. Nico nodded in return, then walked over to one of the inward-benches, and took a seat. Beside him was an open picnic basket, filled with chips and soft drinks. Why was he at the park alone, with food to eat by himself? My questions were answered as he took out a soft drink and cracked it open, leading me to believe that the basket was indeed his.
"If you guys aren't going anywhere for the time being, feel free to join me," he said, slouching his arms over the borders of the gazebo. He had a lazy smile on his face as he stared at me through his crystal-blue eyes. Scott and I looked at each other, and he had a solemn look on his face. I shrugged, and sat next to the blonde boy. "Want a soda?" he asked, holding up a Coke next to me. "Sure," I said eagerly, accepting the soda. Scott grimly walked over and took the seat beside me, placing his arms on his lap, while he leaned his head to look over at us.
"Why are you here alone?" Scott didn't hesitate to ask.
"Well, just enjoying the view, like I said," Nico replied a little nervously.
I gave Scott a stern look, telling him to stop nudging into his business, but he wouldn't give in. Nico took his attention off of us when he pulled a bag of chips out of the basket, and ate them while looking fowards. Scott leaned in towards me, and whispered into my ear, "Daniel, I don't like this guy, let's ditch him," he said.
My eyes cringed as I turned towards him in disbelief, "What?" I whispered. "You just made friends with him this morning, why would you do something like that?" I asked. Scott groaned, rolling his eyes at me, and jerked off of the bench. We both looked at him surprisingly as he grabbed my arm, and started pulling me out of the gazebo. "Hey, where are you guys going?" Nico asked cautiously.
"Stop it Scott," I whined, trying to push his arm away. It didn't work though, since he was too strong for me. "Sorry Nico, we gotta go," he spoke for me, already walking towards his car. Nico stood there behind us, eyes in shock. I tried to give him a face telling him that I had no control over him, but I don't think he saw. Nico didn't run after me or anything, and within a matter of seconds, he had already dragged me back to his car.
"Scott what the hell?" I shouted.
"He's ruining the moment."
"What moment?" I asked, looking at him in disbelief.
"A romantic moment. Daniel this is a romantic park, couples go here all the fucking time. Why the fuck do you think I took you here?"
My eyes widened, but I still kept my eyes trained on him. He was starting to get mad.
"I didn't come here just so we could have it interrupted by some blonde dumbass."
I was starting to feel a bit bad for Nico. If what Scott said was true about this being an official romantic park in the city, then I could only imagine why Nico would be here alone. Thinking about the thought only made me pity whatever could've happened more.
"He's our friend, what the hell is wrong with you? So we can't make out right now, we can do it later! We'll be at the school the entire night, and you have all the time in the world to make out with me then, so why can't we just hang out with our friends in the meantime?"
"Because I don't want to, I want to fucking kiss you now!" He shouted into my face, suddenly gripping my shoulders, and holding me close to him. I turned around nervously, and I still saw Nico staring at us from the distance with a shocked face. I hope he wasn't hearing our heated conversation.
"No Scott, quit being so clingy. I'm going back to Nico," I said, wriggling out of his grip, and then walking back to my friend. Suddenly, he grasped my shoulder again, and then flipped me around, to where I was facing him again.
"Yes," he said sternly.
"No!" I shouted back.
Nostalgia emerged from my mind, as I felt Scott's fist hit my face one again. Due to my frail body, I was knocked down to the ground, my forehead beginning to bleed as I kneeled beneath his feet. His eyes were filled with fury, but they soon calmed themselves once he saw Nico running up to us from behind. Scott looked at me sincerely, as he tried to kneel down and help me up.
Scott hurt me again, for the second time. I was starting to doubt what we had going on with us here. "Daniel," he whispered, his voice much calmer now. I saw two hands push him away from me from behind, and I looked up and saw Nico with a violent expression. "What the fuck did you do to him?" Nico shouted at his face. I would've expected Scott to come back with a rebuttal, but instead he choked on his words, and looked down at his feet.
Nico helped me up, and I accepted his offer as he pulled me from off the ground to my feet. "Are you okay?" He asked, paying attention to my forehead. "Oh my god, you're bleeding.." Nico's eyes widened. "It's nothing," I sighed, before turning around, and looking at Scott. He was also staring at me, but his eyes were pleading for forgiveness. After what happened the second time, I'm not sure if I want to forgive him again. This brings back painful memories from the first day of school, and it gives me a rashing headache for some reason.
I clench my head, as I cramp down from a migraine. It isn't from the injuries I received or anything, but from struggling to remember something. I feel as though I should be remembering something, but my brain can't find the information for it. Nico holds me by the shoulders, as he looks at Scott furiously. "Wait," Scott says pleadingly, as he tries to reach his arm out towards us.
"Yeah, I think you should stay away from Daniel for a while," Nico uttered, pulling me towards the other car in the parking lot. I suspected that it might be his car, and judging by the sky, it was probably almost time for us to head to school, so perhaps he'd be taking me there.
"Wait!" Scott shouted, trying to run towards us.
"Daniel, I'm sorry!" He shouted.
The voices were getting distant, soon to where I couldn't hear much more. Still being dragged in my state, I wanted to limp towards Scott, and believe that he was sorry. But I couldn't- he hurt me for the second time, and as much as I wanted to cry, I sucked the tears up. My own love hit me, and I felt as if my heart broke into a million pieces.
As I began to doubt myself, I started to wonder, for it was the only thing I could do at the time.
Does Scott really love me, or is he merely a lust-craved homosexual?
