Chapter seventeen: April showers brings may flowers

(A/n before we gets started I want to say that I will be using half of the season 3 episode 3 in this chapter but not all of it as I don't remember it word by word but anyway hope you enjoy)

IT WAS LACIE FAVORITE TIME OF the year and that has happened to be Spring time. Lacie jumped out of bed in a happy manner as she started getting dressed. She may be a widowed mother but that didn't stop her from enjoying the wonderful weather that was in front of her.
After Lacie got dressed she went downstairs, her mother rosella was sitting at the table intensely as her father Peter who was reading the newspaper.
"Isn't it a glorious morning?!" Asked Lacie as she sat down "so my plans for today is to go into town an-"
"Lacie nows not the time," said rosella as she got up from the table
After Lacie said that there were silence in the air, LeAnn who had happened to be sitting down started to tear up. Lacie took notice
"Did.. I miss something?" Asked Lacie as she looked at her mother
"Why don't you go to the school house to see what happened, Anne told me to tell you to meet her there," said rosella as she turned around
"Mother your scaring me.. is everything ok?"
"Everything's fine it's just... go to the school house to find the rest Anne just said for you to meet her there,"
Lacie stood up as she grabbed her hat before walking out

As Lacie arrived at the school house, she looked around. It didn't change much except that there was a board on the side of the school. She looked at it for a while until something startled her
"Lacie. What are you doing here?" Asked Jane as she went to hug her best friend "are you attending school again?"
"no but I was thinking about it but I don't think I will have time with this baby on the way," laughed Lacie
Lacie was now two months pregnant and she was showing quite a bit
"That is true, are you sure you want to do this? I mean there's a way to get rid of it,"
"Jane as much as I would love to attend school again with you and the girls but it's just.. I have responsibilities now and this baby is one of them," said lacie "now where's Anne she told my mother that she wanted to meet me here,"
"Oh she inside, would you like to see what we all been doing while you were gone?"
"Sure," said Lacie as she smiled, Jane smiled before taking Lacies hand as she dragged her into the school house,
"What a surprise, Lacie what are you doing here?" Asked Miss Stacy as she smiled giving the girl a hug
"I don't know Anne told me to meet her here," said Lacie as she looked around "anyway what's this?"
"Oh this is where the newspaper gets made," Said Jane
"Yea everyone in Avonlea reads the Avonlea gassette," Said moody as he smiled "besides I don't want to sound rude but.. have you been eating? You look awfully huge,"
Lacie looked down at her stomach, she didn't want to tell everyone that she was pregnant again
"Oh that's because she's pregnant," said Jane as she smiled
"Wait.. aren't you to young?" Asked charlie as he was confused
"Guys are you forgetting I married Thomas two years ago?" Asked Lacie "anyway have any of you seen Anne?"
On cue Anne arrives to the school
"Sorry I'm late there was an emergency this morning at Gilbert's house," said Anne as she hung up her coat in the coat room of the school before walking over to the gang
"Lacie I'm so glad your here," said Anne as she hugged the girl, Lacie hugged back
"Would someone please tell me what's going on?" Asked Lacie
"Where's Gilbert?" Asked ruby as she was about to cry
"He went to Charlottetown to fetch the doctor for Mary," said Anne
"Wait what's wrong with Mary?" Asked Lacie
After Lacie asked that she heard a sniffle, Josie laughed
"Ruby why are you crying you barely know that women," said Josie
"Mary happens to be a lovely women, you just don't know it," said Anne as she looked at Josie
"Yea but why isn't he here?!"
After ruby said that moody walked forward to ruby handing her a handkerchief
"Here this might help with your.. face," Said moody
"Ooh Diana are you taking notice of this?" Smirked Josie as she crossed her arms
Seriously what is up with these girls with guys thought Lacie
"As much as I would love to stay and chat there some errands I have tk run for my mother, oh and update me on Mary," said Lacie as she walked out

Lacie was strolling through the Charlottetown streets and she came a stopped in front of a baby store, Lacie sighed as she saw the stuff before walking away from the window and when she did she walked into something more like someone.
"Hey watch it," said Lacie as she tried to get her focus back
"Sorry I didn't see you there," said a voice
"It's fine," said Lacie as she looked at the boy, she smiled
"Hi.. I'm River Johnson,"
"I'm Lacie Salem," said Lacie as she She smiled, what a handsome young man she thought

After Lacies encounter with river she arrived back to Avonlea, and along the way she bumped into Anne and Gilbert.
"Where have you been?" Asked Anne
"Sorry I was in Charlottetown running errands what's wrong?" Asked Lacie as she saw the glum look in Gilbert's face
"Mary has sepsis.." said Anne
"And there's nothing I can't do about it," said Gilbert as he walked away Lacie caught up with Gilbert
"Gilbert listen to me, you are a great and caring person, there may not be something you can do and I'm glad that you care but that can't stop you from chasing your dreams," said Lacie
"What are you saying?" Asked Gilbert as he turned around to face Lacie, Lacie sighed
"I'm saying.. you will make an amazing doctor," said Lacie "just have faith,"
"Thanks Lacie I'm really glad your back,"
"No problem," smiled Lacie "now I better get home,"
"Ok bye Lacie," shouted Anne

As Lacie arrived home she walked into the front door, when she did she greeted her parents as she hummed happily
"Someone's in a happy mood," smiled LeAnn as she sat her book down to face Lacie "did something happen in Charlottetown?"
"How did you know something happened in Charlottetown?" Asked Lacie as she sat her bag down on LeAnn's desk
"I don't know it's written on your face," said LeAnn
"Ok fine I met a boy his names river and we're going to lunch next weekend in Charlottetown,"
"Does billy know?"
"No but he won't know," said Lacie "besides he's off to marry Josie and I need to get over the fact that it may never happen between us," said Lacie as she way getting the dresses that she bought out of the bag hanging them up
"Well you did miss him earlier,"
"I beg your pardon?" Asked Lacie as she looked at her sister
"He came over looking for you apparently he wanted me to tell you that he rather marry you then Josie,"
"Wait what?!"
