Sana's POV
We went inside the "Freedom stage" as she says.
Is that really this place's name?
Sounds kind of childish as Dianne says it.
"Dianne!" A voice called.
"Celine!" She responded to the girl and gave her a weird handshake.
She actually looks like Chae.
"Since when had you returned?" She asked.
"Yesterday, I went to your place earlier and figured that you weren't there. And this is our usual spot so, I went here," Celine answered.
"How have you been?" Dianne then asked.
They actually forgot my presence here.
"I've been fine. Life in the city is nice," She said.
"Ah, I forgot. Celine, this is Sakura Minatozaki, a.k.a Ms. Arrogant, I was tasked to babysit her, so here we are now," She said as both of them laughed after.
So this is how it's going to happen.
She's going to get reinforcements to annoy me.
"And Ms. Arrogant, she is Katarina Celine Son, a really trusted friend of mine, be nice to her or I won't think twice about ripping you apart," She said and laughed again with Celine.
Best friend?
"That's wild, Dianne," She blurted out as Dianne and I gave her a disgusted look.
She then gulped and scratched the back of her neck.
"Anyway, it's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Minatozaki," She said and offered her hand for me to shake.
I then gladly accepted and shook her hand.
"Are you going to perform, Ms. Minatozaki?" Celine asked as I was shocked.
"I know Dianne is, but why are you here?" She asked again.
"Dianne made me go here, obviously," I just answered.
"You just can't perform," She said in a sarcastic tone.
I'll never get tired of saying how I am annoyed with just her presence itself.
"I can," I answered.
"Then go for it," She answered and smiled at me.
She is challenging me.
"So, where do I perform?" I boldly asked.
"That stage in front of course," She answered.
We went our way to the front and waited for the performance to finish.
"What instrument are you going to play?" She asked.
Instrument?
"I don't know how to play instruments, d-don't you have like, instrumentals of songs?" I asked.
Why did I even sign up for this.
"What are you talking about? We don't have those things the city have. Just instruments," She answered.
"Then, can you play for me?" I asked as she raised her eyebrow.
"I don't even know which songs you like," She answered.
"Play anything calming maybe, I'd figure it out," I answered.
"I-I don't know," She said as I then held her arm causing her to look at me and raised her eyebrow.
"Please, just once," I said as she sighed.
"I'd play anything and you'd figure out what to sing?" She asked.
"Yes, that," I said.
"I still don't know," She said as I then looked at her with pleading eyes.
I then heard her sigh again.
"Fine," She said in defeat.
No one could resist my charms.
Anything would do.
Then the performance before ours finished as a round of loud applause was heard.
"I'm getting nervous," I silently said as I felt my hands shaking.
Then a pat on my back was felt.
"That was the same feeling I had the first time I performed here. They won't judge you, don't worry," Dianne reassured.
She had this side of her?
We were then called to the not so large stage that can fit a band and multiple people with instruments.
We got up as Dianne went to the piano.
"A pleasant day to all of us, as you know me that much, I am Dianne, and the other girl in front of you is Sakura, it's her first time so give her support," She said as everyone clapped.
I looked at her who nodded at me, saying she would start already. I responded with a nod as well.
Be good to me now, Dianne.
She then started to play as I felt that it was a familiar tone.
I usually listen to this back home.
Home...
Thank you for actually reminding me.
I closed my eyes and started singing.
"Vintage tee, brand new phone
High heels on cobblestones
When you are young, they assume you know nothing
Sequin smile, black lipstick
Sensual politics
When you are young, they assume you know nothing
But I knew you
Dancin' in your Levi's
Drunk under a streetlight, I
I knew you
Hand under my sweatshirt
Baby, kiss it better, I"
I love this song.
"And when I felt like I was an old cardigan
Under someone's bed
You put me on and said I was your favorite
A friend to all is a friend to none
Chase two girls, lose the one
When you are young, they assume you know nothin',"
This was my dream.
To perform and sing.
But they never wanted me to do so.
"But I knew you
Playing hide-and-seek and
Giving me your weekends, I
I knew you
Your heartbeat on the High Line
Once in 20 lifetimes, I
And when I felt like I was an old cardigan
Under someone's bed
You put me on and said I was your favorite,"
Dianne also told me to keep it short so I signaled her that It was done.
She executed the outro so well.
Then people applaused.
This was...
A very pleasing feeling.
We bowed and left the staged as I jumped with glee.
"That was a nice performance, now tell me, which song was that?" She asked.
What am I supposed to say? Taylor Swift isn't alive in this timeline yet.
Is she?
"I told you that I'll make a way," I just answered.
"That was a great performance, Ms. Minatozaki! I didn't know you can sing," Celine said.
"Just Sakura, Celine," I said as she nodded.
"Anyway, we have to go for now," Dianne said as Celine nodded and bid her goodbye.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"You're not hungry?" She asked as I shook my head.
Who would reject food?
"Why did you told me to perform?" I asked.
"I just see something in you. You know, like you were destined to perform?" She said and continued walking.
"Thank you," I said.
"For what now?" She asked.
"I wanted to perform, but some people were always pulling me away from my dreams," I sighed.
"Then we should perform often," She said.
"Oh, here we are," She said and opened the door of the restaurant and signaled me to go.
