Los Angeles 1995

one, two, three, four

the drummer of the band playing at the orpheum counted his band mates in as they starting singing.

take off
last stop
countdown til we blast open the top
face first full charge
electric hammer to the heart

the lead singer started singing, whilst bouncing to the beat of the song. he got to the pre chorus and the rest of the band started joining in with singing

clocks more faster
it's all we're after now

their rhythm guitarist held his guitar up and strummed it harshly creating a contrasting sound.

won't stop climbing
cause this is our time yeah

the bassist joined the lead and they sang together into one microphone before the guitarist pushed him away. the lead continued singing as everyone rocked out

when all the days felt black and white
those were the best shades of my life

don't look down
cause we're still rising
up right now
and even if we
hit the ground
we'll still fly
keep dreaming like we'll live forever
but live it like it's now or never

the drummer started singing his solo, with the bassist echoing the words.

we ain't searching for tomorrow
(tomorrow)

cause we got all we need today
(today)

the lead guitarist started singing again, singing with a rasp in his voice but pushing the passion though the words

living on a feeling that's been running through our veins

the bassist sang his line running his hand through his hair with a smirk

we're the revolution that's been singing in the rain

the whole band started clapping along to the beat on the song as they all stopped playing their instruments.

don't look down
cause we're still rising
up right now

the lead guitarist swung his guitar over his shoulder as they all struck he same chord and continued to rock out to the song.

and even if we
hit the ground
we'll still fly
keep dreaming like we'll live forever
but live it like it's now or never

now or never...

the song came to and end the band all left out a breath, sweat clinging to their foreheads as they grinned.

"whoo! excellent!" a girl, with long blonde hair, yelled running towards the stage.

"sounds great guys" one guy called

the bassist grinned "thank you! we're sunset curve!"

the rhythm guitarist turned to their lead and held his hand out for a fist bump "too bad we wasted that on sound check. that's the richest we've ever played"

"wait until tonight man, when this place gets packed with record execs" the lead grinned widely, holding his hand out to the blonde, helping her onto the stage

the bassist turned his attention to the drummer "alex, you were smoking!"

the drummer, alex, smiled shyly "oh no, i was just warming up, you guys were the ones on fire"

"could you just own your awesomeness for once?" the blonde grinned

"alright i was killing it"

"yes you were" the lead commented "okay, so i'm thinking we need to fuel up before the show, i'm thinking street dogs"

"yes!"

"hey bobby, where you going?" the guitarist called after their rhythm guitarist

"im good" bobby called as he walked towards a girl wiping down the tables "vegetarian. could never hurt an animal"

"you guys are really good" the girl said "i see a lot of bands, been in a couple myself. i was really feeling it"

"that's what we do this for" the bands lead commented "i'm luke, by the way"

"i'm reggie" the bassist added

"alex"

"bobby"

"lillie, i'm there best friend" the blonde girl grinned

lillie reynolds was the best friend of luke patterson since they were 5, the pair were inseparable and were rarely ever seen apart. lillie and luke met reggie and alex in the 5th grade before meeting bobby in freshman year of high school. lillie credited herself as sunset curves biggest fan, and was excited for them to finally play the orpheum.

"nice to meet you guys, i'm rose"

"oh uh. here's our demo" luke handed her a cd

reggie grabbed a tshirt and smirked "and a tshirt, size beautiful"

"thanks" rose nodded "i'll make sure not to wipe the tables down with this"

"ooh good call" alex said "when they get wet they kinda just fall apart in your hands"

"we learnt that the hard way"

bobby rolled his eyes "don't you guys have hot dogs to get?"

"he had a hamburger for lunch" luke whispered to rose "lil, you coming with?"

"sorry i gotta get home to see my mom, i'll be back for the concert though" lillie smiled

luke nodded, he leant forwards and kissed her on the cheek, shooting her a grin, before he, alex and reggie ran out of the building and into the street

"that's what i'm talking about!" luke grinned

alex looked at him confused "the smell of sunset boulevard?"

"no. it's what that girl said in there tonight, about our music, all right? it's like an energy, it connects us with people! i want that connection with everyone" luke bounced up and down in his spot

"then we're gonna need more t-shirts" reggie shrugged

"let's go boys"

reggie walked over to a couple of women at the side of the street "ladies" he said handing them a tshirt each

"oh my gosh reggie!" they called as he ran after the other guys

the three guys were adding toppings to their hotdogs from the back of an old car, alex accidentally dropping a pickle down the battery cables. "man i can't wait til we eat someplace where the condiments aren't served out of the back of an oldsmobile" he grumbled before looking towards the owner "hey! sorry, i got some pickle juice on your battery cables"

"no problem. it'll help with the rust"

"that can't... okay" alex muttered before following his band mates to sit on a rundown couch.

"this is awesome, you guys! we're playing the orpheum! i can't count how many bands have played here and ended up huge!" luke grinned "we're gonna be legends! eat up boys, cause after tonight, everything changes"

they all help their hotdogs together as if making a toast, before taking a bite.

"that's a new flavour" alex commented

"chill man. street dogs haven't killed us yet" reggie shrugged

if only he knew how wrong that statement would be.....
