In honor of the rain in SoCal, heres a rain story. It's super long🌧

Cold
Rainy
To some those words sound boring. But for me, those words are exciting!
Today it was raining. Hard showers of water poured from the sky. Cold breeze blew throughout my neighborhood.
Me being me, I've always wanted to dance in the rain with someone. Doesn't matter who. Just, someone. But as of right now, I'm limited in friends.
Why? I moved from (your state and town) to the popular city everyone can't stop buzzing about, Los Angelos California. My dad has work here so I had to to leave all my friends behind and come here.
Not that I'm complaining LA is truly magical, but I'm sitting here in my room staring out onto the street, alone. My eyes watch each time as the rain hits the road it makes a splash.
Calming isn't it.
But I can't just sit here wasting away. I should be enjoying this rain while it lasts. No time to sit here a pounder life.
I jump off from my seat by the window. Grab my phone, jacket, and shoes I don't care about. "If you need me I'll be outside" I yelled to my mom
"Okay hunny be careful" my mother yelled back
"I promise"

I open my front door. The loud hits of the rain takes control over my hearing.
I take a deep breath and I run out into the street.
The rain and the breeze immediately hit me by surprise.
I twirl around not wanting this feeling to go away. I take the hood off of my head and let the rain soke into my hair. I stick my tongue out catching little rain drops.
I smiling so wide I'm surprised my face hasn't gotten tired. I let out some laughs and stomp into the puddles.
15mins pass and I'm soaking wet. Do I care at this point? No.
I continue to stomp around in the road till I hear distant noises. I turn around and see another person walking out into the rain from the house next to mine.
As it gets closer I can see it's a boy. He runs out quickly getting hit by the rain as did I. He has a blue jacket on with the hood over his head. He has black pants on that will probably soon be soaked. I couldn't necessarily see his face but I could tell he was around my age.
I lose myself and I stare at him. He holds his hands out catching the rain in his palms. He looks up and sticks his tongue out, as did I.
I think do I introduce myself?'
I walk over to the boy and tap his shoulder. He turns around and I'm in awe.
It's as if the rain had stopped and it was just me and him in the world. His smile just makes me want to melt inside. I can't even think straight.
"Oh hey." he let's out a sigh.
Then it hit me, pretty hard actually. He's really cute. What do I say, what do I do, am I gonna die? I quickly fix my thoughts and I smile back
"Hi." I seriously couldn't be more creative then that.
The rain continues to pour down soon he is drenched as well.
he wiped his face with his hands "I saw you from my window and I thought I should join you." he smiled softly.
I laugh, "Really? Well I like the company." I looked down and kicked a puddle of water at his pants.
"No!" He yells playfully
I laugh and I do it again
"You are so gonna regret that!!" He looks at me and the rain pours harder. I swore I could here thunder in the distance
I blush and smile "Better catch me then." I turn around quickly and run, I try not to slip because that would be embarrassing.
I hear my footsteps in the puddles of water, the I hear his getting louder and louder till—
Oops
I did it, I face planted into a huge water puddle. My clothes are now not only soaked but my hands are red and scratched.
"Oh my gosh are you okay?" I hear him say
"Yeah I just took a tumble that all." I look up and see him hold out his hand to help me. I take it and stand up.
"That was quite the fall there." He tries to lighten the mood. It works because I laugh
"Yeah well I am a graceful faller." I shrug proudly
He laughs in response, "I never did get your name." he rubs his eye with his knuckles. It's probably because water got in it.
"I'm Y/N I just moved here from (your state and town)." I squint at him considering water was dripping down my face
"I'm Nathan." He smiled cheerfully

The next two days it rained
And those two days Nathan and I would play in the rain.
Some may say it's childish but I say it's totally normal.
You really don't know what you're missing. If I never went outside, I would've never met Nathan, My best friend...
Two months later
Im in my room staring out my window. The rain blows across and hits the glass.
My phone buzzed and I look at it

It's a surprise! I can't tell you

I'll be right there

I wonder what Nathan's surprise is...
I grab a jacket and open my front door.
I take a deep breath and run out side into the street.
"Nathan?!" I call out
"Over here!" I turn around and see him. He has a great big smile on his face and he's holding a speaker.
"What the? Why do you have a speaker—" I tried to say but he cut me off
"It's water proof chill." He chuckles and sets it down turning it on. Music plays softly. He looks up at me and holds his hand out "May I have this dance?"
I sigh and smile. I take his hand.
He twirls me and I giggle I then do the same to him. The feeling that's taken over was like the first time I let eyes on him. The rain felt like it stopped and we were the only two people in the world. He take both of my hands and we spin again together in a circle.
"You're such a great dancer." I say playfully
"I know right I'm a natural." He put my hands over hi shoulder and he put his just above my waist. And we sway back and forethought the the music. The comfortable silence felt nice and all you could hear was the music and the rain.
"Nathan, can I tell you something?" I said scared. My heart beat faster and I swore you could hear it beating from my chest
"Of course you can." He responded furrowing his eyebrows
"Well, I've always wanted to dance with someone in the rain. I didn't care who, but I'm glad I'm dancing with someone like you." I smile at him
His smile turn wider and he responds, "Same, I'm actually surprised you want to dance with me." He looks down
"You're surprised?! I'm surprised." I let out a sigh
"Well I didn't think I'd be dancing in the rain with someone beautiful like you," Nathan's eyes grow wide. As if he had just saw a ghost "I-I-I mean-Uh-I-" he let go of me and rubbed his face
"Nathan shh," I put my finger up to his lips to shush him. He relaxes "I should also tell you something else." I pull my finger back down.
The rain patter down harder
"I think about the day I first met you all the time, I think about how much fun we had that day and the days following. You're such an amazing person not once did I think I'd end up with a friend like you,"
Nathan noticeable flinched at the word friend so I quickly continued so he wouldn't get the wrong idea
"Truth is when I first say you something clicked in my mind, you were so excited to be in the rain. To be honest it made my heart flutter. The you said that you came out here to give me company..." I looked down and blushed "that made fall for you. So uhm Nathan?" I looked up at him and he look back at me
I took a deep breath "I like you." I'm closed my eyes and waited for a response. When I didn't hear one I opened my eyes
Nathan's eyes looked between me and my lips. Without hesitation he leaned into me and kissed me.
Rain poured from their designated clouds hard.
the kiss felt like electricity hit me.
I kissed him back. After a minute we both released.
"I like you too Y/N"
I guess you can say rain brings people together... cause without it I wouldn't of met my best friend to lover, Nathan...
