As Gohan made his way down the stairs, and exited the front entrance of the prestigious UA High, a familiar voice called out for him. "There's the golden boy." Turning around, a familiar face with dyed cyan-hair man leaned against the wall with a bored expression. "Where are you off to?"
"Wait, you're... Kiai Hatsume, right?" Gohan asked, racking through his brain for the correct name. "What are you doing here?"
"Well, normally I pick up Mei from the emergency exit outside of the Support Course, but she promised me she'd behave, just for today. So, I figured I'd wait out here for her." He explained as he picked himself off the wall, securing his blue 'I'm done peopling" over his waist and putting his hands in the pockets of his black jeans. "So, what are you going to be up to for the next couple of days?" He asked, taking a step forward.
"Oh, well, I still have my classes, so-"
"Classes?" He asked, cutting Gohan off. "For what? Being a hero?" With a dry chuckle, Kiai approached the Saiyan. "You don't learn to be a hero. You're born one. That's what makes a true hero, someone who doesn't need to be told that saving that life in danger is the right thing to do. And yet, you held back against Cell despite that, correct?"
Gohan's eyes narrowed, and his hair began to softly waver. "Who are you?"
"Sorry, I can only answer your question if I know you're serious about being a hero, show me tomorrow." He told him suddenly.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Gohan asked.
"You'll see. If you want your answers, meet me tomorrow at Ikebukuro Station." He told him as Hatsume came out of the building.
"So, Big Bro, I see that you've met my star test subject!" She said excitedly. Unlike he usually would, Gohan saw Hatsume in her uniform with an actual skirt on.
"Can't really call him your test subject until you get to use your babies on him, isn't that correct, Mei?" The Hatsume brother asked.
"Right you are, dear brother. I'll get him on my side one day. Until then, we must mobilize quickly! You still have to keep your promise since I behaved today!" She said excitedly as they began to walk away.
"Gohan Son, don't forget. Ikebukuro Station, 5:00 tomorrow. I would hate to be waiting long." He told him with his same dry expression, waving his arm over his head before continuing to walk with his sister.
What's with that guy? Gohan thought to himself as he took a step forward.
"Hey Gohan!" Kaminari called out, stopping his friend from leaving.
"Oh, hey Denki. What's up?" Gohan asked as the two of them began walking.
"I wanna show you something cool, so let's race!" He said as Gohan widened his eyes. "The loser treats the winner to lunch!" He said with a confident smile.
"You're on!" Just as he said that, lightning flashed around Kaminari before he vanished. To his surprise, Kaminari had dashed forward, confident in his new ability.
"How do you like my new Lightning Body technique?" He asked rhetorically, looking back as Gohan caught up. "HUH?!"
"I think it's great! I'm glad you managed to better control your electricity, Denki!" Gohan told him as he effortlessly stayed at his pace.
"Geez, I was hoping that you weren't as fast as you were strong!" He said as he clenched his eyes shut in frustration. "Alright then, let's give it everything I've got!" With his battle cry, Kaminari's electricity sputtered around him more erratically before he began to speed up. With a smile, Gohan kept pace with him, and as Heights Alliance came into view, he leapt forward, reaching for the wall of the building, but to no avail. As Gohan touched the wall a whole second before he could, he fell short of his destination, landing face first on the ground.
"That's some speed, Denki! You're as fast as Izuku, now!" Gohan praised as Kaminari looked up, his dimwitted face a clear indication that he short-circuited his brain, but giving a thumbs-up nonetheless.
The next day, Gohan and Kaminari arrived at Ikebukuro station. "Thanks for inviting me along, Gohan!" He said with a wide smile.
"It was nothing." I wonder what Kiai wanted though... Gohan thought to himself as he looked around for his new comrade. As the two searched high and low for Kiai Hatsume, a familiar voice called out to the two boys. "Hey! Aren't you-?!" Looking over, Videl Satan suddenly ran up to her fellow UA students. "You're...Gohan Son, and Dekki Kalimari." She said.
"Yeah, that's right..." Gohan said as he pointed to himself.
"It's Denki Kaminari!" He corrected, stomping his foot.
"Sorry, it was harder to remember you since I beat you in one hit." She told him with a nervous laugh. "It's easier to remember you as Chargebolt."
"Why did you have to remind me...?" Kaminari told her in defeat, reminiscing on his loss.
"So, what are you doing here, anyway?" Gohan asked her.
"I was actually going to ask you the same thing. That Hatsume girl from the Support Course, her brother invited me out. I figured that if we were going to work together, it'd be good for our compatibility and teamwork." She explained as Gohan and Kaminari's eyes widened.
"Wait, that's why we're here!" Kaminari told her as the two exchanged looks.
"Well, I guess we'd better find Kiai together..." Gohan said reluctantly as the other two students nodded. The three began to walk about the station, searching for their host. After about fifteen minutes, Gohan could hear his name being called out.
"Gohan Son!" The voice said. "I thought I told you not to be late." Hatsume's dry expression looked up from the ground. His hand in the pocket of his blue jeans.
"Oh, I wasn't... Denki and I got here right on time. We didn't see you anywhere..." Gohan explained as Videl stepped forward.
"Yeah, I even came fifteen minutes early! Where the hell were you!?" Videl asked him angrily as he fixed the collar of his light blue shirt.
"I was. If you didn't see me get off the train, then that's not my issue. Had you remained in front of where you had gotten off, you would have seen me right there." He claimed, pointing to the pillar closest to the train.
"I think you're bluffing!" Kaminari told him, pointing a finger. "Why did you even invite us out here, anyway?!"
"Us? That's a bold assumption, Dokan Kamisan." Hatsume told him with narrowed eyes. "I invited Gohan Son and Videl Satan, among others, but you certainly were not one of the people I asked to join me today."
"For the last time, it's-!" Before he could finish, Hatsume turned away from him and back to Gohan.
"Now then, shall we carry on?"
As Kiai begant to walk off, Gohan called out his name. "Kiai!" He shouted. "I don't know why you called us out here, but if Denki can't come along, then I'm heading home." With his arms crossed, the two locked eyes for several moments.
With a sigh, he turned away and continued to walk. "Well, aren't you coming?" He asked without turning around. The three waded through the crowd, following Kiai to whatever destination he had planned.
"So, you said you invited us, among others, right?" Videl asked him. "Who else were we waiting for?"
"Nobody. You two are the only ones who accepted my invites." He explained. "I was hoping to...see how my comrades would be prior to our operation together."
"Oh, well, that's nice of you, I guess..." Videl told him as they waded through the busy area.
"So, let's go catch a movie, then." He suddenly said, causing everyone's eyes to widen. "What?"
"Dude, you could sound a little more enthusiastic when saying that." Kaminari pointed out, holding out his finger.
"If you don't want to see a movie, Karimaki, then go home." He said dryly, crossing his arms over his chest. "Otherwise, there's a romantic comedy that Uwabami starred in."
"Oh, you're talking about Slithered Into My Heart!" Videl shouted in realization. "I've been wanting to see that movie!"
"Funny, I didn't take you as the romcom type." Kaminari told her with a smile.
"Just like how I didn't take you for the lose-to-a-Quirkless-girl type." Videl told him with a wry smile.
"Let's hopefully never talk about that again..." Kaminari stated as Gohan laughed.
"That'll probably never happen." Gohan stated through his laughter. "Yeah, let's go see it, Kiai."
In agreeance, the group made their way to the nearest theater and attended the movie Slithered Into My Heart. As the four of them left the theater, Kaminari finished the rest of his soda before making his way to the trash bin at the corner. As he dropped his drink inside, he happened to see further down the alley at his side. A large figure in a ragged cloak was looming over an older woman.
"H-Hey!" Kaminari called out, catching the attention of the figure, whose face was hidden among the darkness within his hood, and the shadows of the alleyway. "What's going on here?" Crap, what's going on?!
"Don't just stand there, you idiot!" The shorter crimson-haired woman yelled. "You're a Hero, aren't you?! Why don't you do something about this buffoon!?"
"R-Right!" Alright, it's time to test my new strength! "Lightning Body!" Kaminari yelled as his body became engulfed in electricity. Dashing forward, Kaminari threw a fist forward as the large figure raised a furry arm, blocking the attack. Alright, Bakugo, Kirishima, let's hope that combat training doesn't go to waste! Kaminari swung his leg hard into the figure's arm before throwing another electrified fist into the hood, slamming into what felt like the forehead. "Stun Gun: One Million Volts!" The figure barely staggered as one of its large hands slammed into Kaminari's chest, pinning him to the wall.
"Come on, are you really that weak?!" The woman yelled angrily.
"What the crap! It didn't even phase him!" Through the darkness of the hood, Kaminari could just barely make out a smile.
"Chargebolt!" He suddenly heard as Videl rushed down the alley, slamming her leg downward onto the figure's shoulder. "You look like you needed some backup!" She told him as she twisted around, spinning to slam her heel into the figure's temple.
With a smile, Kaminari began to electrify his body again, and in unison, he and Videl leaped off the large figure and onto the nearby walls. The two of them pounced from the wall and threw their legs out, landing a tandem jump kick square into the figure's chest, and causing it to stagger backwards. "This is Chargebolt and Athena, licensed Heroes in training. Give up now and let that woman go!" Videl demanded as the two landed, raising their fists. "We currently have backup nearby, so I suggest you surrender!"
"You two aren't so bad..." The figure finally said in a deep voice. "I'm glad I got to test you." The figure said as he leaped onto the wall above them. As the two looked up, they saw the massive figure jumping from wall to wall until he reached the series of rooftops.
"Chargebolt, go get Saiyaman!" Videl shouted.
"Righ-!" Kaminari could barely get the word out. As he dashed out of the alley, he stumbled over and fell on his face.
"Denki?!" Gohan said as he turned over to his friend.
"What happened?" Hatsume asked as the two helped him to his feet.
"Hey..." Unable to speak properly, he turned around, and the three watch as Videl leaped from wall to wall, following the suspect's path.
"His brain is fried! That must mean they were in a fight!" Gohan told him as he left Kaminari on Hatsume's arm and flew into the air, joining Videl on the roof. "Athena, what happened?!" Gohan asked her as she descended.
"There was this creepy cloaked guy harassing this woman in the alley. Me and Chargebolt pushed him back a bit, but then he just smiled and ran away. Said something about testing us. When we turned our back, the lady was gone, too." She explained as Gohan put two fingers to his head.
"Damn, I can't find an accurate reading. There's nobody running away, or powered up in any way. Not in the area at least." He told her with his teeth clenched.
"How can that be possible? Is it possible that he'd have a warping Quirk?"
"I don't think so. If that was the case, I don't think Denki would have expended all his energy trying to corner him." Looking out over the horizon, with the Sun part way past the middle of the sky. "Whatever it was, I feel like it has something to do with our operations tomorrow..."
