{ Maddie }
While Landyn was at school, I was packing. Right after I pick him up, we're flying to Boston to meet up with the band. We were going to be with them for a week. But Landyn has no idea we're going.
I packed Landyn's Lightning McQueen suitcase, then moved on to his little carry on bag. I put his drawings he made for everyone in then put some toys, his baby blanket, and stuffed giraffe-Scotty-in.
Just as I finished my bag, my phone began ringing. Landyn's preschool was calling me,
"Hello?" I questioned as I answered. I honestly had no idea why they'd be calling me,
"Hello. Am I able to speak to Maddie Walker?" The woman on the other line spoke,
"This is she" I responded,
"Hi. This is Mrs. Adams at Gardner Preschool. We need you to come get Landyn. He was involved in an incident today and he needs to be picked up" she told me. I was taken back,
"Okay. I'm on my way" I hung up and grabbed all our stuff. It was almost the end of the school day anyway. I'd probably just pick him up, get us something to eat, and go to the airport.
I parked and got out as I saw another mom walking in as well. She and I walked in and to the office where Landyn sat with another little boy. Both of the kids were crying.
The assistant, who I spoke to on the phone, took us into the main office where the principal sat. I couldn't believe I was even in here. I'm sitting in the principal office for something involving my FOUR year old.
"Ms. Walker, Mrs. Martin, your sons were involved in a physical situation. We don't know what exactly started it, but we do know it was during playtime when the kids were outside on the playground" she spoke then looked at me,
"Landyn pushed and hit Hunter. This is totally unacceptable. So, he won't be able to return for a week- which I know isn't too big of a deal considering you were going out of town anyway"
I nodded and tried to wrap my head around Landyn pushing and hitting a kid,
"Mrs. Martin, Hunter is okay. We just want to send him home to make sure he's okay"
We got up and walked out of the office, where I stopped the other mom,
"I'm so sorry for what Landyn did," I told her. She scoffed,
"Did you think your kid wouldn't be physical? I mean little boys turn out like their fathers" she smirked.
My eyebrows furrowed and my blood was cold,
"How do you know that?" I questioned,
"I worked your case" she sent me a sarcastic smile, grabbed her son, and left.
I looked at Landyn who was bawling his eyes out. I sighed and signed him out, grabbing his bag and his hand and taking him to the car.
I didn't talk to him right away. Instead, I got us food and went to the airport, eating in the parking lot.
When we were both done eating, I had Landyn crawl into the front seat so we could talk,
"Landyn, can you tell me what happened at school?" I asked, wiping just below his eyes,
"M-me and H-Hunter were playing and I w-was sitting on the s-step and he p-push me off. I got m-mad and push him then h-hit him" he cried,
"Wait, he pushed you off the steps?" I squinted my eyes. Landyn nodded, "Did you not tell anyone this?"
He shook his head and cried harder,
"It w-was the number four step. I h-hurt my back"
I had Landyn turn around and I lifted his shirt slightly. His back was red and scratched. It actually looks like he was bleeding at one point,
"Bubby, why didn't you tell them?" I asked as he settled back on his bottom. He shrugged,
"Okay" I let out a breath, "Look, I'm upset but I also know you were defending yourself. But we can't hit people" I told him.
Landyn nodded and looked down,
"I'm sorry Mommy" he mumbled,
"I know" I pushed his hair back, "Mommy's got to think okay"
He nodded again,
"Okay. Now, how about we go see Calum"
****
Landyn's cheeks have to be hurting from him smiling. I don't think the smile has left since I told him we were seeing Calum.
We landed in Boston and it was already dark outside. The boys would be going on stage in an hour and a half. I had already put Landyn in his pajamas since it would be late by the time it was over.
We got to the venue and walked around back where I saw one of the security guards waiting for us,
"Nice to see you" he smiled and put the lanyards over mine and Landyn's neck, "I'll put your bags on the bus. You can go on in. Just go straight down the hall and you'll find the dressing room"
I thanked him and he took our suitcases. I kept Landyn's backpack and my purse with me.
We walked in and down the hall, stopping in front of the door with the 5SOS sign,
"Open it Mommy!" Landyn bounced. I smiled and opened the door, hearing the gasp of everyone,
"CALUM" Landyn ran into his legs. Calum leaned down and picked him up as I hugged everyone else. When Calum put Landyn down, Landyn went to hug everyone else and Calum pulled me into him,
"I missed you guys" he whispered and pecked my lips,
"We missed you too" I let my arms wrap around his waist.
Calum pulled me to sit next to him while Landyn sat on Michael's lap. Landyn was asking a million questions, but the guys were patient and answered him as he bounced around to everyone's laps, ending with KayKay.
The guys were called to stage so we all headed that way. Luke put some headphones on Landyn before he walked on. Michael and Landyn did their handshake. Ashton gave him a high five. Calum kissed me and then kissed Landyn's head.
Calum started the show with Babylon, and let me say, he looked hot.
Not only was I loving watching them perform, but I was also loving watching Landyn. He was jumping around and dancing,
"He's so freaking cute" Sierra grinned and picked Landyn up and danced with him on her hip.
The show was almost over, but Landyn had fallen asleep on my shoulder.
The boys flew off the stage, still on a high, but calmed down when they saw Landyn asleep,
"How was I?" Calum smirked and kissed me,
"Pretty hot" I smirked back, adjusting Landyn on my hip,
"Let me take him" Calum reached out but I turned,
"You're sweaty" I grimaced,
"Hasn't bothered you before. I recall one night being very sweaty" his voice got lower,
"Dear god Cal" I laughed at his sexual inferences.
We got back on the bus and I put Landyn to bed. He got his own little bunk on the bottom. Calum and I were across the aisle and up one from him.
Calum let me crawl in first so that I was closer to the wall. He got in and pulled the blanket over us, pulling me close to him,
"I asked Landyn about school today and he told me he got in trouble" he whispered, aware that everyone else is sleeping,
"Some kid pushed him off the playground and Landyn got up and hit and pushed the kid" I sighed, "I don't know how to punish him. He's never been in trouble before"
"I mean, to me, it sounds like he was defending himself" Calum rotated so we could face each other,
"Yeah but I don't want him to be like his dad and just hit people when things happen"
Calum nodded,
"I don't know what to do" I choked up,
"Maybe you don't punish this one. If he does it again, then do something about it" Calum suggested,
"I guess you're right. Landyn feels horrible for hitting the kid already" I scooted and laid my head on Calum's chest,
"Is Landyn hurt?"
"His back is pretty scraped up from when he was pushed and hit the ground. But other than that he's fine"
I felt Calum kiss my head, making me look up at him,
"You're an amazing mom. I know you'll figure out what the best thing to do is" he told me.
I nodded and closed the gap between our lips, causing Calum to let out a small moan.
"Goodnight Mads"
