it was semester check up day and changmin was crammed inside a classroom. surprisingly, the whole group was together and even sangyeon was in the room.
chanhee, juyeon and younghoon were all sitting as far away as possible from each other but other than that, it was pretty fun.
it was juyeon's turn to go up and he seemed more emotionless than usual. as soon as the music started his body moved perfectly but his face remained stone cold. no emotion was put into dancing and that was important when it came to dance.
the students politely clapped when it was over but juyeon only had a stoic face on as he made his way back to his seat. changmin could feel the frustration radiating off of him.
"oh my gosh, you're next changmin. break a leg." kevin excitedly said, patting his back.
"why would you tell a dancer to break his leg?" eric asked, looking at kevin in disbelief.
"oh my gosh, you're right. that's for actors." kevin gasped apologetically before turning to look at changmin. "don't break a leg."
changmin could only roll his eyes at his friend before making his way to the front. his eyes found chanhee's and for some reason he sent him a small smile before turning to speak to sunwoo.
changmin didn't have much time do think about it since the music started playing. he only had two days to choreograph this dance but he thought he did a great job. his muscles and face naturally moved with the music. it felt like it's been 10 seconds when the music stopped and the students politely clapped, with a bow changmin made his way back to his chair.
"that was amazing! you'll definitely be chosen as best dancer!" kevin excitedly said and it made changmin freeze.
"there's a best dancer? i thought it was only a singer." changmin asked, taking a seat and accepting the water bottle that eric handed him.
"oh no, there's a best someone in every category. singer, dancer, rapper, actor, dj, technician, you name it." eric explained, changmin nodded before voicing his other question.
"who are the current title holders?"
"well, singer is chanhee, rapper is a guy named taeyong, dancer is juyeon, actor is a guy named jinyoung, he's hot..." kevin trailed off, biting his bottom lip.
"i don't want to take juyeon's spot, i'm sure he'll beat me up." changmin winced, glancing at juyeon who was in a conversation with hyunjae.
"juyeon doesn't care about that title, all he cares about is dancing and well, chanhee." eric awkwardly shrugged, "does he still care about chanhee?" he asked, looking at kevin.
"i'm sure he does." kevin assured eric, who only nodded in response.
"yo, chanhee's next." eric told them, leaning forward when chanhee stepped up to the front. chanhee was quite the sight to see, his black clothes, ridiculously heavy black combat boots and black hair with blue highlights was odd when you compared it to his almost angelic like face.
changmin spared a glance towards juyeon, who was watching chanhee intently.
the music stared playing and changmin immediately recognized the song, you don't know me by elizabeth gillies. somehow, it seemed like the song was perfect for chanhee.
(and i highly recommend listening to it but if you don't it's fine too.)
"you think you know me but you don't, know me."
chanhee started off, not looking at anything in particular.
"you think you own me but you can't, control me."
at this, chanhee looked over to the left side of the classroom, everyone could tell that he was looking at juyeon.
as chanhee kept singing, changmin took this as a chance to look at his friends reactions. kevin and eric were both hyping chanhee up, hollering whenever he would hit a high note. sunwoo was smiling from across the room, his eyes bouncing from juyeon to chanhee. younghoon had a guilty look on his face while next to him, jacob was simply bumping his head to the music and hak was worriedly looking at juyeon.
hyunjae seemed slightly annoyed at the song choice but his eyes were bouncing from juyeon to chanhee. juyeon just had his regular stone cold face on, staring straight at chanhee. now, chanhee seemed like he was having the time of his life, a smile was on his face as he sang the lyrics, his gaze always returning to juyeon.
"but you're not afraid of me and i can't convince you, that you don't know me."
chanhee once again locked eyes with juyeon, his eyes holding millions of emotions.
"and the longer that you stay the ice is melting."
chanhee sung, his smile slowly disappeared and his voice cracked a little at the end, he gulped before continuing.
"and the pain feels okay, it feels okay."
chanhee averted his eyes from juyeon when his eyes once again filled with tears, voice wavering slightly.
"get it chanhee!" sunwoo yelled in encouragement, followed by claps as the students hyped him up too.
"wooooo, get it baby!" kevin yelled, changmin hollering alongside eric.
"you push me back, i push you back."
chanhee continued, locking eyes with juyeon once again.
"you scream at me, i scream at you, louder, louder, louder,"
chanhee repeated, creating a build up that had the students excitedly cheering.

chanhee went higher during this note, closing his eyes as he prepared for the highest note in the song.
"louder~"
chanhee belted out a perfect high note that had the students going crazy, changmin was equally as excited as he was clapping and cheering as well.
"you scream at me, i scream at you louder, la la la la louder."
changmin had to admit, chanhee was killing it.
"i'm dangerous, i'm warning you."
chanhee continued, moving his gaze from juyeon to look at the crowd.
"but you're not afraid of me."
chanhee turned back to juyeon, smiling when juyeon had a smile of his own.
"and i can't convince you, and i don't have to."
chanhee's face turned serious as the last sentence was coming up.
"i think you know me."
chanhee sang, eyes locked with juyeon's before the crowd erupted in claps in cheers.
juyeon stood up and clapped, a smile on his face. everyone soon followed, giving chanhee a standing ovation.

everyone soon went on to perform, hyunjae sang, jacob sang, younghoon acted, kevin played the piano, eric created a laser show, sunwoo rapped, hak performed a trot song and sangyeon sang.
"alright everyone, 3 people in here earned titles." a teacher announced, getting cheers in return.
"first off, johnny suh earned the best dj."
claps resonated throughout the classroom as soon as the teacher announced it.
"next off, lee sangyeon earned the best singer title." the teacher said and changmin couldn't help it when his eyes snapped towards chanhee. it seems like he wasn't the only one curious about chanhee's reaction since half the students were either clapping or clapping while glancing at chanhee.
surprisingly, the only one that seemed pissed off was sunwoo. chanhee didn't seem to bat an eye at the news, he was too busy typing on his phone.
changmin went back to clapping and cheering for his cousin, happy that he had his title back for his last semester at the school.
"and finally, ji changmin earned the best dancer title." the teacher finished off, clapping for everyone.
"oh my gosh, i told you!" kevin yelled from besides him, changmin wasn't really paying attention though.
he could only snap his eyes towards juyeon, afraid of what the older would react. but surprise surprise, he wasn't paying attention either, he was typing on his phone, just like chanhee.

he didn't think about the whole chanhee juyeon situation as he finally felt himself relax and feel happy.
"changmin, you're gonna get a solo on the end of the year concert!" eric excitedly said, shaking changmin by the shoulders.
"that's cool."
"cool? it's more than cool. important people come to our concerts to look for the next big thing, it could change your life!" kevin said and this caught changmin's attention. he just got into the school and he already earned a title, it would be cool if he could be a professional dancer.
"what about you guys? aren't y'all gonna perform in the concert?" changmin asked, not wanting to be the only one who got great opportunities.
"of course we do, everyone is expected to participate but we're going to be in groups. only the title holders get a solo." eric explained and changmin could only nod in understandment.
"this concert is gonna be great, i can already feel it." kevin sighed dreamily, getting a smile from changmin and eric.
