-Read A/N if you want a potential dedication-

"Of course we are doing something for your birthday!" I signed.

"No, you're not. I hate parties. I can't keep up with what's going on," Blake argued.

"Then it'll be a small one. Just out families, Clay, Trevor, and Darren! Please!" I pleaded as I gave him my infamous puppy dog eyes.

He grimaced and turned away for a second. When he turned back to face me, he sighed. "Fine. Throw me a party."

I jumped and squealed in excitement.

He rolled his eyes at me as we walked into the school cafeteria.

We bought our lunch and walked back to our regular table where Darren and Trevor were already seated.

They waved at us as we got closer to the table.

"Hey guys. So, Blake's birthday is Saturday. I'm going to throw him a party, and you are both invited!"

"Sweet!" Trevor said with a smile on his face.

I returned his smile, and snuck a glance at Blake, who looked like he was ready to strangle himself.

I followed his eyes and found Heather, who was walking toward us.

I groaned.

"Hey Blake! Hi...um..uh..."

"Farren," I say for the thousandth time.

"Yeah! Anyway, a little birdy told me that your birthday is Saturday, Blake!" she said with a fake smile.

His eyes widened as he watched my hands form the words that had just left Heather's mouth.

He began to shake his head ferociously as I said, "Who told you that?"

"Nobody important. What is important, though, is making sure that Blake's party is one to remember."

He began to sign, while I talked,"Oh, no, you don't have to throw me a party-"

"Of course I do! It would be my pleasure!"

He started to argue again, but Heather cut him off saying, "I'm throwing you a party on Saturday and there's nothing you can do about it."

She walked away from us, leaving me speechless while Blake was fuming.

"How did she find out?" he signed angrily.

"I have no idea! The only people that I've told so far are Trevor and Darren!"

He sighed and ran a hand through his chocolate hair.

"Can we just.. skip the rest of the day? I don't feel like dealing with anyone but you right now?" he asks.

My heart took off. "Yeah. Let's go."

We drove to the closest Starbucks, which was forty-five minutes away, and took over a table for two.

While he drank his mocha frappuccino and I drank my orange mango smoothie, we sat down at the only open table.

"Why don't you like parties?" I asked.

He hesitated before sighing. "I've never felt comfortable during parties. I've always needed someone to interpret and it's always confusing and hard to keep up."

"I'm sorry that I was such a jerk about throwing you a party. If I hadn't been so adamant about it, Heather probably wouldn't have known."

"It's fine. I would have done the same for you. I am actually going to throw you a party though," he replies with a smile.

I laugh and say, "Whatever floats your boat."

He mock salutes me and signs, "Aye, aye, captain!"

After a few minutes of comfortable silence, Blake says, "So, what do you want to do when you graduate?"

I answered without hesitation. "I want to get a good scholarship and get as far away from here as possible."

"Really?" he replies with a surprised expression painted on his face.

"Yeah, I couldn't be more ready to leave all of the bad memories of this town behind me. What about you? What do you want to do?"

"I think that I'll go to the university a few towns over. I've heard that they have a really good deaf program and I feel like I would want to stay close to my dad."

I nodded. "So you aren't already tired of this town?"

He shook his head.

I scoffed. "Well, you haven't even here long enough to get tired of it."

/// (A.N. Pretend it's Saturday now ok?)

"I can't believe she put this together in two days," I say as I stare in awe at the party that was put together by Heather.

Her house was like a mansion that's only seen in movies, with a yard bigger than the golf course a couple of towns over, a kitchen the size of my entire first floor, and a crystal chandelier hanging above a ball room.

Blake hadn't said a word as we walked up to the front door. The party was already going strong, and it looked like Heather had invited the entire school.

"I really don't want to do this," he complains.

"I know. We'll just make a quick appearance, eat some fancy people food, then fake an excuse and make our way to my house for the after party, alright?"

He nods in agreement and we open the front door.

We are immediately pulled apart as Heather grabs Blake's arm and leads him towards the back of the house, while I am left behind in a tsunami of freshman.

Blake looks back at me, his eyes pleading for help.

I try to make my way to him, but the crowd that I am stuffed into suddenly begins to move in the opposite direction and I am pulled with them.

I see Blake's head disappear behind a wall as I sink to the ground, surrounded by people.

///
Blake (omg aren't you excited it's his pov for rn????)

Vibrations.

Vibrations and Heather's iron grip on my forearm are all that I am experiencing at the moment.

I try to keep up with what she's trying to tell me, but decide that it's not worth the effort.

Farren.

I finally see her bright red hair pop up about 50 feet away from us.

I break free of Heather's grasp and weave my way through the horde of people.

I reach Farren and our hands intertwine.

"Let's get out of here," she signs.

I nod.

We try to find our way back to the front door, but before we could, Farren stops dead in her tracks and turns around.

Heather is on a stage, microphone in hand, saying something too fast for me to understand.

The music stopped, and the only things I can feel are the vibrations of Heather's voice through the speakers and Farren's pulse beating through her wrist.

I look at Farren, and see that her blue green eyes are sparked with anger.

Her jaw is set and she balls her free hand into a fist.

Heather walks off the stage and makes her way towards us.

I still can't understand what she is saying, but whatever it is, Farren is not liking it.

I remove my hand from hers and sign, "C'mon, let's just get out of here."

Farren ignores me and makes her way towards Heather.

Oh no.

Farren reaches Heather and punches her square in the jaw.

Heather is thrown back. When she stands again, there is fire in her dark eyes.

I see her lips from the words, "You shouldn't have done that," before she punches Farren back.

Everyone starts to crowd around them, and I try to get closer.

The two girls are in a full blown fight, dodging each other's punches while occasionally hitting each other.

I finally reach Farren and manage to pull them off of each other.

Farren's nose is bleeding badly, as well as her lip. But Heather looks worse.

Her nose is definitely broken, her eye is swollen, her lip is cut open, and she appears to have sprained her wrist.

Farren grabs my hand, almost as hard as Heather had when we first arrived, and we went towards the front door.

Not but about ten steps away from being free of this horror house, a group of people, Heather's clique no doubt, grabs the chocolate fondue fountain and pours it all over Farren.

I stand there, eyes wide, in horror.

Farren takes in a deep breath before taking my hand for the third time that night, and walking out the door.

I run to catch up with her and sign, "We need to get you fixed up."

She sighs as we get into the car and drive home.

By the time we get back, the chocolate that has covered her is almost hardened and the blood is almost dried.

She goes into her house and into the shower, while I wait downstairs for her.

She emerges and we go into her room with a first aid kit.

"Good thing no ones home, right?" she signs.

"Might have been a little hard to explain at the moment."

"Yeah. I'm sorry I ruined your birthday."

I chuckle. "Are you kidding? I just saw you drenched in chocolate. I'll never forget this, and you definitely did not ruin my birthday. Besides, what happened to the after party?" I sign as I clean her lip with the antibiotic.

"Can we do it tomorrow? I think I'll throw up if I see any more chocolate today."

I smile. "Whatever floats your boat, Farren."
