As we were going upstairs to my room, Draco's hand never left mine. As we were walking upstairs, I heard few portraits that were hanging on the wall, whispering something I quite couldn't place. I heard few words here and there, 'is it her?' 'yes, it is' 'she doesn't know it yet, does she?'
"Draco, what are they whispering about?" I asked as we reached the first floor.
"I don't know, always whispering some shit, blabbing crazy old oaks" he said as we walked past my door.
"Where are we going? We just walked past my room" I said as I pointed at the door of my room.
"Just a surprise, darling" he said as we walked into his room.
"In your bedroom?" I asked him hesitantly. A smirk curved on his lips and he turned around and said, "No, darling. Not yet" I rolled my eyes at him, realizing what he was referring to. He threw his dark green sweater that had Slytherin printed on the back, at me that hit me right in my face. I grabbed it and said, "Hey! That was uncalled for"
"Quickly, put it on" he said grabbing one for himself and putting it on. He also gave me gloves and some socks to wear.
"Draco, where are we going? Wearing all this?" I asked putting a sock on my left leg. As soon as I was done, he grabbed my hand and pulled me out of his room and took me upstairs. We went on the second floor and he opened a large wooden black door that opened up to a little balcony, that had the perfect view of the sky.
I was looking at the sky in astonishment. The whole sky was covered in stars and had a slightest of curve showing the moon. It was better view than The Astronomy Tower. It was freezing outside, but it was all worth to stay and watch the pretty sky. I put my hand on the railing and Draco sneaked his hands from between my arms and placed on the railing too. He was right behind me. I could feel his hot breath near my ears, sending goosebumps all over my body.
"So, what do you think, darling?" he said supporting his head on my shoulder and placing a gentle kiss. I couldn't get any words out. It was more than mesmerizing. I turned around and placed my hands on his chest, "Draco, I have no words. It's absolutely breath-" and he cut me off with a kiss. He was gentle, like there was just us in the whole world and no one else. And that our problems were not ours anymore, like they didn't exist. I had a feeling in my stomach, butterflies? I cannot fall for him, yes, he's been nice, but he's also an unbearable bully. He cupped my cheeks with his hands and broke the kiss. We opened our eyes and I got lost in his blue-grey ones, our foreheads touching. He smiled, the most gorgeous and warmest smile I had ever seen on him. I smiled in return.
"Draco, as much as I'd love to stay and watch the sky, I'm freezing and the only thing I cannot stand is cold" I said taking his hands off my face and in my hands.
"Alright, let's get you to your room" he said and pulled me into the dark hallway. We went down the stairs and in my room. I took off the excess clothing that I had on and he did the same. He sat on the edge of the bed and I sat beside him folding both of my legs, facing him, both my elbows on my thighs and my palms holding my head.
"Can I ask you a question?" I said kindly. He looked at me and took the same position that I was sitting in. He nodded and I giggled. "Why are you being so nice and what was with that kiss?"
"Technically, that's two questions" he said standing up and walking over to the book library, clearly wanting to avoid the topic, which I wasn't intending to.
"Well, then can I ask you two questions?" I said walking over to the window and watching the sky.
"Now that's three" he said turning around and coming behind me and placing his hands on my waist.
"Draco!" I said turning around to face him. Our faces were centimeters away and few seconds away from our second kiss. He sighed and hugged me, I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Well, to answer your first question, you've already been through the pain of three lifetimes, especially you don't deserve it and you deserve nice and I'm not nice, you know that I don't do nice, but I don't know. Around you, it's just, I feel at peace, that all my problems are absent and that you are worth everything" he said while stroking my hair. He pulled away and cupped my cheeks and said, "To answer your second question, I've been meaning to do that since summer, but not if you don't want to, I'll stop"
Before I could say anything, Mrs. Malfoy knocked on the door. "Yes?"
"Ah, I knew I'd find you here, Draco, can I have a word with you?" she said biting her lip, holding a laugh, knowing she ruined some sort of moment between us.
"Alright, I'll be out in two" Draco said kindly. She left mumbling something under her breath and giggling. Draco rolled his eyes at her and looked at me. "I'll let you sleep, now" and we walked to the door. He leaned against the frame and said, "A goodnight kiss for the Slytherin Prince?" closed his eyes and pouted his lips. I giggled and kissed him on his cheek, close enough to the lips that only our tips would touch. "You fucking tease"
"Goodnight Draco" I said closing the door quickly. I picked out a book and started reading it on my bed, few hours passed by and I heard someone playing a piano. I walked out of my room to see where it was coming from, the dimly lit hallways couldn't help so I cast the Lumos spell on my wand and followed the sound.
It was coming from the second floor, from the last room in the hall. The door was already open, the piano was in the middle of the room and I saw Draco playing the piano, beautifully, flawless, so different. I stood there in complete silence and in admiration. His back was facing me.
"So, are you planning to keep creepily staring at me or come and play with me?" he said turning his head to the side.
"Oh, don't mind me, just admiring the view" I said, repeating his words from earlier in the bathtub. I walked over to him and sat beside him, my head resting on his shoulder while he continued playing. After he finished, I clapped and said, "I didn't know that you played piano"
"Yeah, no one does, just my mother and now you" he said placing a hand on my thigh. "It was flawless, Draco. You play very beautifully" I didn't ask why his father didn't know. It just didn't feel right, I didn't wanna ruin the moment.
"Why, thank you darling" he placed a gentle kiss on my cheek. "Do you wanna have a go?" he asked and I nodded and said, "Well, since it's almost Christmas" and I started playing the tune of 'Jingle bells' As I started playing, Draco placed a hand on my waist and his other rested on his thigh.
After I finished, we heard clapping behind us, it was Mrs. Malfoy.
"Well, I came up here, thinking Draco was playing, but was amazed to see you play, Olivia. Bravo! Do you sing as well?" she asked coming in the room. Draco and I stood up and he said, "Yes, mother, the voice of an angel. No, no, the voice of The Goddess of Music, herself"
"Oh, please Draco, I don't sing that well" I said, stopping him from saying anything more.
"Do so"
"Don't"
"Do so"
"Don't"
"Alright, alright, I'll be the judge of it, sing for me, someday Olivia?" she said looking at me.
"Sure, Mrs. Malfoy" I said smiling.
"Now, both of you off to bed" she said pushing us out of the room.
The next day I woke up early, before the sun had risen, to do my morning exercise. I heard a knock on my door. "Come in"
It was Draco.
"Good morning Draco" I said, with one leg in front and the other in the back, stretching. "I didn't know you exercised" he said sitting on the bed.
"I d-"
"But, good you're awake, I wanna show you something, freshen up and meet me downstairs in 20" he said and walked to the door "and only 20, don't sleep in the tub this time"
"Where are we going?"
"Another surprise, darling" he said, grinning.
I took a quick shower and wore a thick outfit to protect me from cold and went downstairs. It was pretty early, so naturally, Mrs. Malfoy was still asleep. I went down and Draco was waiting for me near the door.
"Now, come on, hurry up, we don't wanna miss it" he said grabbing my hand and pulling me out of the house.
"Miss what? And where are we going?" I said and he pulled me on the east side of the house. "You'll soon find out" he said grinning.
Merlin, what is this boy gonna do? I thought "Well, I'm not gonna murder you" he said chuckling a little. "Did I say that out loud?" He just nodded.
"Oh, how long is it? We've been walking for hours" I said whining, tired from all the walking and was stomping my feet in the soft snow underneath us. It was getting steeper, so I knew that we were climbing up.
"Hours? Jeez, woman, it has been merely 15 minutes. Do you actually exercise, lazyhead?" he said, still holding my hand and pulling me.
"Alright, alright, let me at least tie my shoe" I said and started to act to tie my shoe, which wasn't exactly untied, if he had noticed, he would've known I was lying. I quickly grabbed some soft snow in my hand and made a snowball, ready to attack him. He had walked a few steps away from me, so I stood up and threw, hoping it would hit him in the back, but as soon as the ball left my hand, he turned around and it hit him right in the face. I was laughing and running my ass off, because I knew if he caught me, I would practically become a snowman.
"You-" he grabbed some snow and tried to throw it but I was already ahead of him and hidden behind a large tree. I tried to make no sound whereas he was shouting my name. I refrained from giggling. And suddenly everything went silent. He was no longer shouting my name, nor the sound of him walking. I knew it was a trick of his that he was pulling, but it was dead silent for a minute, I came out from behind the tree and he jumped in front of me and said "Found you!"
I was startled and I tripped holding his jacket making us fall, him on top of me. "That's cheating, you tricked me. I was scared that something happened to you"
"That's what you get, darling" he said now standing up and offering a hand to help me up. We walked for a few minutes and as we were getting closer, he told me to close my eyes. And we reached at the edge of a cliff, I opened my eyes and said sarcastically, "You're gonna push me off of this cliff, aren't you?"
"No, love. Look up" and I looked up. It was the most beautiful sunrise that I had ever seen, he walked up behind me and rested his head on my shoulder and said, "Merry Christmas, Olivia"
"Merry Christmas, Draco" I said still not looking at him. He came and stood beside me and was staring at me, I asked, "It's beautiful, isn't it?"
"Breathtaking" he said still looking at me. I looked at him and said, "The sunrise, Draco"
"Yeah, that too" he smiled.
We sat there for a few hours, talking about Quidditch, Potions, flying and everything random. Then we arrived at the topic of boys. Dreaded it.
"So, do you like anyone?" he asked, as we were watching the sunrise, he lay his back on a tree and I, on his chest.
"Maybe" I said, maybe I had feelings for him, maybe he liked me too.
"Who is it? It's that Diggory boy, isn't it? Or that Rafael from Ravenclaw, or is it Potter? More than half of the school likes you, including girls" he said clenching his jaw.
"Jeez, stalker much? And no. It's neither of them. I'm not into girls. And I'm not gonna tell you, until you tell me how you recognized me in the bar" I said now turning to him.
"You're not gonna leave it, are you?" he said placing his hands on my back, I shook my head. "Well, to be honest, it was your smile, you have the most beautiful smile at Hogwarts, most perfect, I can recognize that smile from miles away. But to confirm, I did check if you had the ring on" I smiled, it was nice, to hear Draco Malfoy, giving compliments.
"Now, which boy has your heart?" he asked leaning forwards.
"Not so easily" I got up and ran towards the direction we came from. "Hey! That's not fair" he said now running behind me. We ran all the way to The Malfoy Manor. We entered and were breathing heavily from the run.
"Ah, there you two are!" Mrs. Malfoy said from the kitchen. "Come on, breakfast's ready"
We two quickly stripped our coats and gloves and sat at the dining table, same place as last night. Mrs. Malfoy had made some pancakes, bacon and kept honey, maple syrup, strawberries, bananas, whipped cream, chocolate pieces and some chocolate syrup on the table with some tea.
"As always, Mrs. Malfoy, it's amazing and thank you for remembering that I liked chocolate" I said while shoving food in my mouth.
"Table manners, darling" Draco said, while properly eating his breakfast.
"Geez, ok, daddy" I said attempting at making fun of him as referring him as an old man. But in the place of getting irritated, he got turned on. I could see him, staring at me with wide eyes. I just ignored and finished my breakfast, I helped Mrs. Malfoy clean up.
"Ok, now it's time for presents" Mrs. Malfoy said. I quickly ran upstairs to get the gifts that I bought them.
When I came down, tons of gifts were already waiting for me under the Christmas Tree. We all sat down and opened the gifts. I got a few new sweaters from Harry, treats from Ron, which I take it, he will eat, a muggle novel from Hermione, a bracelet from Cedric, a coat from the twins and Chris got me a photo frame of me hugging him and him spinning me around.
Draco gave me a long red velvet covered box, when I opened it, it contained the most beautiful gold necklace ever, with a tiny 'm' as a pendant. "Draco, this is absolutely lovely, I'll never take it off. Thank you!"
I gave Draco his, "You know, you didn't have to get me anything, darling" he said and I saw Mrs. Malfoy trying to hide her excitement for us.
"Well then, why did you get me anything?" I gave him a silver necklace, with an M as a huge pendant, that would look good around his neck.
Then I quickly gave Mrs. Malfoy her gift, it was a huge box with a dark green off-shoulder dress in it, that would've looked pretty on her.
"Oh sweetheart, you didn't have to get me anything"
"Why not?"
"Thank you so much, I'll be sure to wear this at your wedding. Ah, how nice would a groom's mother look in this" she said grinning.
"Mother!" Draco said, shyly, his pale cheeks now turning red from blushing and for the first time, I thought that he definitely likes me.
"Olivia, dear, can I talk to you for a moment?" she said standing up from her chair.
"Excuse me" I said and we went up to her room. She went to her cupboard and pulled out a long wooden box and handed it to me.
"I knew your mother, you look just like her, she was my best friend, but after I met Draco's father, we kind of grew apart, I didn't know that she was pregnant. I would've much wished that she left you with me, but as that time was not right for my family, she did the right thing. I know you don't wanna know about her and I won't tell you, but she used to wear this all the time, I know that you are just like her, all the powers that you have are from her and don't worry, your secret is safe with me. Just always wear this, never take it off" she said opening the box for me. It was a necklace with a magical pendant on it.
"Thank you, Mrs. Malfoy, it's beautiful" I quickly wore it around my neck. "Oh, and dear, can I ask something from you?" she asked placing a hand on my shoulder.
"Yes, of course, Mrs. Malfoy" I said looking at her.
"Take care of Draco, he might act all tough and might harass you and your friends, but he just doesn't want to get close, and is scared of getting hurt or unintentionally hurting someone" she said sadly.
"Don't worry, he's in good hands" I said smiling at her and she pulled me into a hug and it was just like her, warm and kind.
"Merry Christmas, Mrs. Malfoy"
