This collection of stories has only one theme, all the central characters live in a city. They may live in the urban part of a city or in the suburbs, the stories may even be set away from a city, in a plane over the Atlantic, but the characters all live in a city. Beyond that, they have so little in common. There are stories here about people in all different places in their lives, facing all difficult kinds of challenges and hurdles, people facing success and failure, people facing decisions and people feeling out of control, and people disappearing into the wallpaper. These stories cover so many of my favourite themes and the subjects that interest me.
These are stories written for an adult audience and therefore have adult themes, there is language, descriptions and subjects in them aimed at adult readers. Some stories contain graphic or disturbing content, but these descriptions are all there to serve the stories and not as titillation.
