Chapter 5

Little did Namjoon know that Hwayoung grew to see Ms. Park as someone she can call as her mother. However, Hwayoung knows that it might not be the right time to ask her to be her "Mommy", so she's waiting for the right time. She may be young, but Jimin wasn't lying when he told Namjoon that Hwayoung's intelligence is something that only she has among her classmates. A mother is the only wish Hwayoung has, and she's hoping that her actions will somehow show her father what she's asking for.

After the call, Namjoon and Hwayoung continued their walk towards the arcades, and when they got there, it was filled with people of different ages. The colorful lights of the machines and various sound effects filled the place, together with the laughter and bickers of the people inside.

"What shall we play first, princess?" Namjoon asked after buying some token for them.

"Daddy, can we just go back home?" Hwayoung mumbled but the place was a little loud for Namjoon to understand.

"Do you want to play basketball with daddy?" Namjoon suggested but she shook her head. "How about race cars?" But again, she refused and Namjoon noticed the grimace on her face. "Okay, since you are sad that Ms. Park isn't with us, why don't you get something for her at the claw machines?" And finally, Hwayoung nodded excitedly at him as she suddenly dragged Namjoon towards the machines.

Namjoon just chuckled in amusement to see his daughter's sudden change of mood from being sad to hyper, just because of Ms. Park. When they reached the machine, various kinds of prizes were inside. They were too many for Hwayoung to choose whatever prize she should get for Seoyeon. Meanwhile, Namjoon is also looking at the prizes and a cute koala plush caught his attention.

"Princess, look at that koala. It's cute, isn't it?" He asked while pointing at it.

"Let's get it for Ms. Park, daddy." She said while pulling Namjoon towards that machine with koala plushies.

And so, Namjoon asked Hwayoung to hold the controllers while he assists her. The twenty tokens that Namjoon bought was almost not enough until after their seventeenth try, they finally got the koala plush.

"Yay! We did it, daddy! Ms. Park will be so happy." She beamed and hugged the koala alongside with her Cinnamoroll.

"Alright, we still have three tokens left. What shall we do with it?" Namjoon asked.

"Let's play basketball!" She exclaimed and Namjoon just let her drag him towards the basketball machine.

After playing in the arcades, the two went at the toy store to stroll. Then, they went to the book store to look for new books to read, and to look for a nice paper bag for the koala plush. After that, they also went in the department store and Hwayoung had convinced Namjoon to buy a gift for Ms. Park. The whole afternoon was tiring for Hwayoung but she enjoyed her bonding with Namjoon. Now it's time to go home, so Namjoon and Hwayoung are currently waiting at the exit for their car to arrive. While waiting, Namjoon remember what Jimin said about Ms. Park as Hwayoung's mother.

"Princess," Namjoon called. "Why did you write Ms. Park's name on the paper that Jimin-ssaem gave when he asked you to write your parents' name?" He slowly asked to her, who now pressed her lips. "It's okay, daddy won't be angry." He assured in a gentle manner when he noticed that Hwayoung is hesitating to answer.

"Because all of my classmates have someone to write as their mommy." She answered timidly while hugging Cinnamoroll for support.

"So you wrote Ms. Park's name because you don't have someone to write as your mommy?" Namjoon asked and Hwayoung nodded. "But you know that it's wrong, right? Because Ms. Park isn't daddy's wife." And she lowered her head as she agreed. "You should be thankful that Ms. Park didn't get angry with what you've done, Hwayoung." He said and it made Hwayoung sadder by just thinking of Ms. Park being angry towards her.

"I'm sorry, daddy." She apologized as tears starts to well on her eyes, making Namjoon a little alarmed so he bent down and carried Hwayoung in his arms. "I don't want Ms. Park to be angry at me, daddy." She sniffled as she frown at Namjoon.

"Daddy and Ms. Park forgave you already, just promise me that you won't do that again, okay?" Namjoon stated while wiping her tears with his thumb.

"Yes, daddy, I promise." She then received a kiss on her forehead, and Namjoon gave her a warm fatherly smile to assure her that everything is fine.

It left a pang in Namjoon's heart as he realized that the day he's been thinking of has finally come. Hwayoung is starting to look for someone to be her mother. If you're asking, Hwayoung knows everything about Seyoung as her biological mother and she loves her too, but because Seyoung wasn't beside her, Hwayoung never felt complete. It's always her, Namjoon, and her Uncle Tae. She wants someone to fill the void she's feeling, and only one person has the ability to do that. Now, it's all up to Namjoon if he will get that person, who is Ms. Park Seoyeon, or he will just ignore it because of his brother's feelings towards Seoyeon.
