Khandara's Farewell

I drew a breath and was still in the silence of my surroundings. The gentle swaying of the weeping willows accompanied by the whispers of the streams pushed my thoughts to decide my future for me. Kahndara was the sort of place where monotony controlled the lives of the elves. We each were predestined to a life, a purpose, and to a way of living. Most were comfortable with this, and yet within me existed a feeling of unsettled constraint placed by the standard of living.

Opening my topaz blue eyes, I noticed a piece of my silver hair caught on my lilac sweater. I sighed quietly and gracefully remove it with my dainty fingers, the silky hair strand warped around my long grey fingernails.

Extending my hands, my skin glistened in the sun and the silver strand of hair danced in the wind once I released it. I took a moment to tilt my head to the artic blue sky, reflecting upon my life thus far before I began my journey to freedom.

I wasn't one to speak my mind or refute others, but my logic and emotions often manifested themselves when I escaped to my secret hiding spot. The snow covered banks of the majestic mountains glistened in wind as if waving goodbye. I picked up my deer skin bag which I had packed with the bare essentials: rice wrapped in green leaves, a flask of river water, a map that would lead me to my destination, and of course, and leather bound journal which contained all of my thoughts.

I began to walk south from this perfect serene backdrop. I knew I was about to change my life, and I was ready for the challenge.

I was like my mother, the recently deceased wife of the head council elf, tall, and slender with prominent cheekbones and a dream to break the monotony. I was determined to reach the treasure of freedom which was physically bound through the lands of the 7 Deadly Sins.

My mother always told me how she knew I wasn't meant to be a mere daughter of the elder council. She had always raised me to challenge the world I knew and create it to the world I wanted to become a part of. The door that dwelled after the lands of the 7 deadly sins was the most precious treasure I had ever known, even though I had never seen it.

Who would I be if I stayed behind? I wouldn't be my mother's daughter that's for sure. She loved the adventure of roaming and challenging the standards that exist. I'm sorry father, but I too crave a different life. I know one day, you'll be proud of me.

With a smile and hope in my eyes, I began the journey and left my boring life in Kahndara behind me.
