Growing By One - Chapter One

“Yes, but for how long! Now they’re going to bugger us when September 1st is going to be!”

Remus rolled his eyes at his friend and nodded to the two kids. They whooped and made a high-five. Remus shook his head and pushed them towards the fireplace where they grabbed some Floo powder and waited for Sirius to go through first.

When Fianna tumbled through the fireplace, she quickly glanced outside of the Leaky Cauldron. As it was a sunny day, the streets of London were full of people. She smiled and ran out of the pub, Harry close to her heals. They waited for the adults in the small, walled courtyard. Remus brandished his wand, tapped the bricks and they waited for the wall to move until they saw the small alley. Sirius scratched his head.

“Do you have your lists?” he asked the kids. Harry nodded and showed him the parchment, then bowed to Fianna. The adults groaned. Fianna cleared her throat, and started reading,

HOGWARTS SCHOOL of WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY

UNIFORM

First-year students will require:

1. Three sets of plain work robes (black)

2. One plain pointed hat (black) for day wear

3. One pair of protective gloves (dragon hide or similar)

4. One winter cloak (black, silver fastenings)

Please note that all pupils” clothes should carry name tags

1 cauldron (pewter, standard size 2) 

1 set glass or crystal phials

1 telescope set

Brass scales

Students may also bring an owl OR a cat OR a toad

PARENTS ARE REMINDED THAT FIRST YEARS ARE NOT ALLOWED THEIR OWN BROOMSTICKS

Sirius and Remus exchanged a look and Sirius said,

“We’ll go to Gringotts first. We have to make a withdrawal.”

Harry and Fianna grinned and dragged the Senior Marauders to the Wizarding bank. There they met Hagrid, whom Fianna already knew and now she remembered why he was here. Not that she’ll say anything, of course. The Harry Potter books were still her rather big secret. She charmed the books with a disillusionment spell, when she snuck Sirius’s wand once, and put them under her bed. She was the only one that knew where they were.
