Sunday

I was a simple girl, straight, fifteen, jet black long hair, nearly 5'5, and sparkling green eyes. I was perfect in some eyes but never to my own. It was a normal Sunday morning, I woke up at six-thirty, took a cold shower and, put on the same pair of sweatpants and the same sweatshirt I had worn since I was thirteen. I rode my bike to the same coffee shop I had been going to since my parents divorced. I was only eight when they divorced and I have not seen my dad or brother since, except on major holidays like Christmas and Easter. Anyway, I thought that this Sunday would be the same Sunday since the first morning I turned thirteen, but it was very different. I was walking into the coffee shop and I went to sit down at the same table I had been sitting at for almost three years, and I saw a new shape outside of the foggy window. I saw a girl, taller than me but not to the point where the height difference was awkward, she had shoulder-length blonde hair with bangs, she wore makeup but not an obvious amount and best of all she had perfect glossy lips and rosy cheeks. She was with two friends, one my age and the other about a year younger. I had never questioned my sexuality, until I realized the way her blue eyes almost shattered my soul. She sat down at the table with her friends but at this point she had already noticed me staring at her. She looked over with her perfectly painted nails, and eyeliner that was not subtle but not extreme, and simply giggled. It was the best noise I had heard in eight years. Even though she was across the cafe, I could hear how perfect it was. She smiled and went to talk to her friends. At this point, her friends had noticed the way I had looked at her and told her to hurry and come talk to me. It was at this given moment, I realized that I had never looked at a boy in any way like this, so I should probably not label my sexuality. As she headed over, I started to panic about the way I would introduce myself. It was almost too late when she walked up and introduced herself, "Hi, I'm Dani." her voice was better than I possibly could have imagined, it was the perfect noise and made me want to jump around. "H-Hi, I'm Sage." I said, I tried not to stutter but I was so nervous I almost couldn't help it. "Do you want to come sit with me?" she sounded nervous, but not in a bad way. "O-oh um sure" i was trying not to sound eager but not too mean either. "I mean you don't have to, it's just we have an open seat and-" she sounded worried, "I would love to sit with you."
