kun made his way to the entrance of the mansion where officials held their council. even in darkness, his silver hair shone in an unmistakable light, skin as pale as the glow of the moon above.
when he sat on his chair in the largest, grandest room, he let out a deep sigh. no one's there yet, he arrived to early in the night. he helped himself with a cup of wine as he waited.
minutes passed, him sitting alone in the completely dark room, staring at old paintings in the wall, wasting his time away with every sip he made from the brass cup.
"wow, you look miserable as fuck."
kun turned to look at the newcomer, a frown morphing on his face as he took in the appearance of the other.
"thank you, for that unsolicited observation. you just fed?"
johnny looked up from where he was wiping blood stains off his boots. "yup, that human governor just sent me two bastards that he couldn't fit in the jail anymore."
kun hummed in reply.
"you should try fresh blood sometimes, maybe it'll help with the brooding," johnny teased. kun rolled his eyes. "i am not brooding."
"sure. to be fair, you're doing a lot better than ten."
kun groaned and looked at the taller straight in the eye. "we are not going there."
johnny sat on his chair across his, plopping his feet up the antique table. "what? i just think it'll be better if you take him back so i can finally have a moment of peace in my house. he talks nonstop for fuck's sake."
kun actually had to stifle a snort. "bear it and suffer."
"i've been bearing it. for four hundred years now actually."
kun didn't think it was that long already.
the door once again swung open, and suddenly the room was a little too bright now. the angel, chenle, sauntered inside. "hi johnny hyung, hi kun ge!" his cheery smile and searing grace was blinding the two older vampires inside the room.
"hey lele, would you mind folding your wings a bit? my eyes hurt," johnny complained, dramatizing the word 'hurt' a bit too exaggerated. the youngest laughed but did as requested.
"kun ge, you shouldn't frown so much. you look way too old now."
kun downed the contents of the cup in one go. "that is a sound suggestion, chenle. maybe i'll consider it if you shut your mouth from now on." chenle rolled his eyes as johnny laughed.
"when have you become so prickly? you're never mean to anyone before."
johnny snorted. "i mean, if my boyfriend left me to rot away for four centuries, i'd be prickly too."
kun reached to get a cup of wine again. his voice was steely. "he did not leave me. it was a mutual agreement. and i'll appreciate it if this topic is never brought up again."
the two other creatures laughed and backed away, deciding to talk amongst themselves. kun was left to his thoughts.
ten.
he never hated a name more.

"the conclave is going to happen in the cross three months from now. every race all over seoul's supernatural realm will come together after one thousand years– and i am not ready for whatever drama it might bring. like, at all," johnny finished relaying his points to the small council.
six major families cohabited in the hills they called the cross. three of these families are vampires– kun's, johnny's, and yuta's. two were angel families– doyoung's and taemin's, and the phoenix family was headed by kai.
"me too. why did it have to be held here at the cross anyway? now we have to be bothered with the program, and the decorations...and all the boring stuff..." kai whined, fire tipped black wings flexing as he stretched in his chair like a cat.
"plus there's gonna be, like, hundreds of supernatural beings that will arrive and stay here for at least a week. i'm not exactly the social spider type."
"butterfly," johnny corrected yuta with a laugh.
kun listened as several complaints were voiced out in the room. he didn't exactly care if the conclave was going to be held in their territory.
"i can arrange the visitors' dwellings for you guys if you want," chenle chirped in.
yuta snapped his head to the younger's direction so fast.
"thank heavens for chenle. you're an angel." laughter rang across the room at the play of words.
"i can work with the higher council and ward the whole cross to avoid...unfortunate circumstances that might lead to wars between races," kun volunteered.
"aye, that's our miserable but very capable kun ge!" the chess piece that he was playing with flew to chenle's face.
"alright kun, guess you're also an angel tonight."
"and i can represent our small council in the higher council to help deal with the events preparations so you guys won't have to be bothered with the 'boring stuff' as you've worded, jongin," taemin presented. cheers erupted from everyone. even kun let out a cheer.
"taemin's an angel too," kai quipped. more laughter was heard.
"so, have we dealt with all our agenda for tonight?" kun asked.
"yeah, i think so ge. i guess...meeting adjourned?"
"hmm. i have somewhere to be. have a good rest of the night, gentlemen."
kun stood up from his seat and prepared to leave. the angels bid him goodbye.
"you can't leave yet!" johnny yelled. kun whipped his head to him. "why?"
"because you're coming home with me. get your devil of a boyfriend out of my house before i lose my wits!"
"you say this every week, johnny."
"take him back with you. he's been talking my ears off for the last four centuries. please get him out of my house."
"just tell him you're kicking him out of your house."
"n— wait. then he might just go back to your house. mmm, i'll do that."
kun turned on his heel without mustering a reply and waved everyone goodbye. he didn't think on johnny's jokes. they will never happen anyway.
