"So, did you do it?" Archer asks me.
"Do what?" I return as I write the next page in my story.
"The dating app thing with the searches." He waved his hand around as he tried to explain his jumbled thoughts.
Last week, we saw an ad for a dating app that matches people based on search history called SEEN. He got a lot more excited than me, that's for sure. We agreed that we'd give it a shot since we've both been single for a good few months. I have yet to try it. That shall soon change, I'm sure.
"No, not yet. Have you?" I ask, distracted by my computer screen.
"Yes! I got matched with this cutie and have a date tonight!" He smiled.
He leaned back in his chair next to me as he attempted to read over my shoulder. I've been writing the same page in this book for ages. For some reason, I can never get it to sound right.
"Oh, sweet Jesus! That's gory as fuck! Why are you writing his insides on his outside? Those are supposed to be inside, you know." He exclaims.
I turned around to him.
"It's not done yet. Tell me more about your match. What was the search history?" I asked in an attempt to change the subject. His amber eyes widened and seemed to sparkle.
"Ok, so their name is Venus! We both tend to search for things about adventure movies and hiking. Speaking of which, you should come hiking with me." He says quickly.
"Not gonna happen. Continue. Where are you going on a date?" I respond.
"Couch potato. We're going to see the new Avengers movie. The one about Spider-Man." He spun in his chair as he spoke.
"I'm going to ignore the fact that you just called me a couch potato. Are you guys going to do anything afterward?" I say as I begin to twist my seat.
"When you get off your butt and finally go on a date, then I'll stop calling you that. No, I don't think so. I want to take it slow. I'm tired of being everyone's hookup." He stopped spinning at that point.
"I mean, hey, you're not my automatic hookup." I joke.
"Well, duh, you're my bestie and definitely not my type, honey." He laughs.
I gasp mockingly, and we begin to laugh together. I turn away from him and attempt to write more on this page.
"No. Stop that. You've been writing on that same line for hours! Let's go get a drink or something." He spins me around. "Go put on something pretty. We're going out."
"What about your date?" I ask.
"It's later on in the night." He says simply.
He walks out of my room and closes the door behind him. I walk over to my closet and reluctantly grab a red blouse and a pair of skinny jeans. I grab some knee-high boots and put everything on.
"I'm dressed!" I yell to him. "What do I do with my hair?"
I've never been able to tame my curls. They always get tangled and frizzy. I've tried a ton of different routines and treatments. My hair simply refuses to cooperate with me.
"Can I come in?" I hear him ask through the door.
"Yeah!" I yell.
He comes in and automatically grabs my hairbrush and spray bottle from the vanity in front of my bed. He practically drenches my hair and begins brushing it out.
"Did you move the leave-in conditioner?" He asks.
"Nope, it's still under my vanity over there." I point without moving my head.
He secures my hair with a clip and grabs the conditioner. He lathers some in his hands and spreads it throughout my hair.
"Where's the blow dryer?" He asks.
"In the bathroom. I think it's next to the sink. Or maybe it's under it? It's in there somewhere." I tell him.
"Ok, I'll go grab that real quick. While I do that, I want you to do the match app thing finally." He says as he walks away
"SEEN? I don't know Arch." I talk after him.
"Sorry! I'm too far away to hear your doubt!" He yells from the bathroom.
I roll my eyes and grab my phone. I hadn't even completed the profile yet. The profile bit looks so long. Why am I doing this again? I think to myself. I put up a random picture from my camera roll and quickly fill out the profile.

Archer came walking into the room with the blow dryer in hand and a victorious grin on his face.
"You just matched with someone." He says as he comes closer to me. "Spill. You've got this cheesy grin on your face."
"Her name is Bronwen. She's twenty-four. And she wants to meet up tonight." I say excitedly.
"I'll drop you off then! Where is it?" He asks as he dries my hair with the cool setting.
"Gravity Plaza!" I try not to jump in excitement.
"Oooo fancy!! You better make sure you have your wallet with you. Just in case, you know?" He says as he finishes up with my hair.
"I will!" I exclaim.
