A/N: Before I start I just want to say thank you for reading. It means more to me than words can express. I would also like to point out that this is my first story, not only that but this is also my first writing experience outside of an English class. All that means is that I have a lot of growing to do as a writer. I hope you take this into consideration as you are reading. I am up to any constructive criticism. In fact I welcome it as I would love to expand my writing capabilities. That being said I present you with the first chapter of "Falling in love with Tommy Carter." I hope you enjoy it! -MarsMoonchild

"Dude you suck at this game!" my best friend Tommy taunted while twirling his Wii remote around in the air as the television screen before us displayed me coming in fifth place while he was in first.
"It wasn't my fault! You were the one who hit me with a red shell when I was ahead of you!" I countered back.
"Whatever dude, you're just a sore loser." Tommy teased, shaking his head. "So do you want to play again?" He asked, looking over at me from his spot on the foot of my bed.
"Uh...no not really, I think my mom gets home soon, we should all watch a movie together." I replied. I knew how much Tommy liked my mom, she was like a second mother to him. After finding out that Tommy's own mother had died I knew that my mom had a soft spot for him as well. He didn't like to talk about it, just like me and my mom didn't talk about my dad.
"Yeah sure, my dad doesn't get home until later tonight anyways, can I stay for dinner?" He asked, knowing my mom and I would never say no.
"Of course you can! You do almost every night anyways." I assured him and got up to turn off my tv. I set my Wii remote back on my television stand then turned back around to see Tommy looking down at his feet. "Hey what's wrong?" I asked, shifting uncomfortably at the sudden change in mood.
"That's my point, I'm always here, I figured you, or at least your mom would get tired of me and just send me home already." He admitted. Sometimes Tommy could be a little insecure, which I didn't understand how seeing as he was everything that I wasn't.
"Tommy you're my best friend, and like a second son to my mom. We aren't ever going to get tired of you. What are you talking about?" I asked as I sat down next to him.
"I don't know, my dad just says that I need to stop bothering you two. He thinks I'm just an annoyance." He confessed as he looked up to meet my eyes. That's another thing that Tommy didn't like to talk about, his dad. Apparently after his Mom had died his dad started getting worse, developing a serious drinking addiction. Tommy never told me anything about what his dad was like when he was drunk, and I didn't think it was my place to ask that sort of thing. The only thing I did know was that my mom did not like Tommy's dad at all.
"What do you mean? You aren't bothering us at all! I asked you to come over today!" I said, nudging his shoulder. "Don't worry about what your dad thinks, you aren't annoying either of us." I assured him.
Smiling, he mumbled a quick "Ok." and that was the end of that conversation. "I'm going to miss being here and playing video games all day." He said as he got up to set his Wii remote down next to mine.
"Yeah me too, are you nervous about tomorrow?" I asked him. I was more than just nervous, I was scared. This summer could be the last summer me and Tommy spend together. Next year we are going to be freshmen in high school, which means that Tommy may find new friends that are better than me. My mom said her best friend found a new best friend her freshman year. What if that happens to me too?
