Five hikers showed up at the nature walk entrance, but it didn't seem very pretty anymore, a bit mysterious. All five of them knew each other and have been friends since high school, or in Sam's case, he met them in college. They each had a small bag slung over their shoulder as they stared at the entrance, debating who was going first.
They all looked at the oldest, which was Genji, his dirty green hair moving as a slight breeze came through. Sam was the youngest but intelligent, while Aaron was the second oldest and not that bright. Ryan, the third oldest, was good at working by himself but not really with others. Rubin was the second youngest, smart when it came to math, not with pressure, though. Genji noticed them staring at him as he was studying the map given to him by some anonymous.
"What?"
They exchanged a look.
"Oh, why do I have to lead?" Genji asked.
"You're the oldest and the one who invited us," Aaron said.
"True. Come on then." Genji said, walking in, not seeming worried, unlike the rest of his group.
They followed on the narrow path that was a bit overgrown. Genji took the lead, while Aaron followed behind him. Sam stayed in the middle with Ryan behind him, while Rubin took up the rear. Birds chirped while the sun streamed through the treetops. It should be beautiful, but it was a bit unsettling because the atmosphere felt colder than it should be. It seemed like smooth sailing since they could follow the path, but Genji suddenly stopped.
"Why'd we stop?" Ryan called up to the front.
"This map doesn't match up with the paths," Genji said, turning to look at his group, "The path branches off into a fork, but I don't know which is the right one to go on."
'Do you think we should go back?" Sam said nervously.
"We might need to," Genji said, putting away the map.
Rubin turned around and started walking back. The rest followed since the exit should be easy to find if they keep following the path. All of a sudden, birds began screeching unsettling calls like they were being attacked. Walking a bit faster, the birds started dying down, but a crow was now calling out, but it was not right for a crow to be in a nature walk. It usually would be Chickadee's, Sparrows, and some other types. Something felt off about this forest or just in general when they had first arrived like there was magic. Were the birds warning them?
"I'm sorry, but why does it feel like we're just walking in an endless stretch?" Rubin said, stopping.
"The exit shouldn't have been this far," Sam said quietly.
"He's right. We should have seen the exit by now; we didn't walk that far." Genji pointed out.
They all didn't say anything, just processing, trying to figure out what was going on. It was true; the group seemed like they were walking in an endless stretch or loop. Sam looked to the left of him and gasped. There was another path that hadn't been there before. The rest saw, and Genji pulled out the map he brought. Was there magic?
"The map matches with that path, but it seemed to change before it had multiple paths, but now it only has one," Genji said, looking at the path.
"Can I see?" Ryan asked.

FanfictionThis is where the characters can develop and show who they truly are. Just some randomness but interesting interactions. The cover doesn't belong to me. Neither does Overwatch.
