The Singing Cafe

Before I went shopping, I ran to my "house" real quick to get a change of clothes. Well it's not really a house, it's more of a tent outside of the town. I know that it's weird to be living like this in the middle of winter,especially when I have all the money that I want.  I wasn't expecting to stay here for very long though. I also don't get cold. The roades were cleared up so I decided it would be a good time to ride my favorite, very expensive, motorcycle. I just need an outfit to go with it. Some things I found weird in this world is that this is a different time zone, but it still has the up-to-date cars, buildings, and food. Except the music and the famous people are not even close to what I'm used to. Maybe I'll show this world what music I listened to in the other Earth.

I walked to the store that would give me fabric so I could make a black body suit. They're one of my favorite things to wear these days because they are comfortable, they keep me warm, and I can wear them while driving a motorcycle. Once I got it, cheap thanks to the store owner being so nice, I ran back to my tent to make it. With my unique abilities, it luckily only took me a few minutes to make it. It was 5:40 by the time I left the tent and got on my motorcycle to go to the Cafe.

I'm a little nervous meeting some new people. I haven't exactly "socialized" for years, so this is definitely  going to be interesting. Well here I go, I just parked the motorcycle when a car came up beside me. It was Malachi and his group. They come out as I was taking off my helmet. It wasn't hard to feel the rush of emotion that came toward me once my hair fell down and I got off my bike.

Before anybody else said anything they would regret, I said, "Hey, everybody. I'm sure you know by now, but my name is Jacqueline and I'm supposed to be joining your group."

Then all of a sudden someone ran up and hugged me. I'm not a person that likes hugs, but I thought I better make friends, I was  taller than her, like all the girls here, which is going to be interesting. Her name was Amanda with the power of teleportation. You could tell she was a very energetic girl. "Hi Jacqueline, so nice to meet you. I couldn't wait when I found out that our newest member was a girl. There isn't alot of girls in this group, so I get a little lonely. We're going to be great friends, I can tell."

While we were walking inside I met all of the people in the group. Even Li. She reminds me of one of my friends name Faith, but she would never betray me 'cause of jealously'. Li was the same height and had the same hair, even the personality was the same. It's just she has a little bit more of a past than my friend Faith did. Everyone in this group does though. Even with a small group you could tell that they made a huge difference with just their powers. One named Brandon had the power of technology, one named Kevin with the power of telepathy, and one that reminded me of my best friend Ashley named Mydnight with the power to heal.

"What would you like to drink?", said the waitress pulling me back to the real world.

"I would like a Root Beer please." I said.

"OK. Coming right up."

"You like Root Beer?", said Malachi.

"Yep. Always has and always will be my favorite pop.", I said.

"That's funny 'cause it's my favorite to.", said Malachi. He wasn't even lying.

"Cool. Why is it that they call it 'Singing Cafe' when there is no one on the stage singing?", I said before he culd ask something personal about me.

"There used to be a singer that was so good that she put this small town on the map. Until one day she started seeing what people were saying about her and she let it go to her head.", Amanda said with sadness in her voice,"It bothered her so much that she ended up commiting suicide thinking that no one loved her anymore. Ever since then this town was on the news for a while then forgotten and the  store owner has been looking for another singer to lighten this town up."

"I'm sorry that happened with your friend. I'm sure she was a great person.", I said.

"Here's your drinks.", said the waitress," Are you ready to order?".

"Yeah, I would like a medium rare steak with mashed potatoes on the side.", I said.

"I'll have the regular.", said the rest. It seems to steak is their favorite meal here. I just picked it 'cause it used to be my favorite kind of food when I was younger. I also hadn't had it in a while.

"Coming right up."

"Wait, how'd you know she was our friend.", said Amanda. After the waitress left.

"I could hear it in your voice and see it in your facial expressions. I even could tell tell that she used to be Malachi's boyfriend. The way he went very quiet and looked down after Amanda started talking about it."

"Wow. your power is great. I'm a little bit jealous.", said Li finally talking after that story was told.

"No need to be. No use wishing you're someone else. If you do, you'll start being blind to what makes you, you.", I said.

"True.", said Li.

"Maybe I'll try out for singing at this place. It would give me something to do and I could introduce you to what I used to listen to when I was younger.", I said.

"You do have a great voice. I heard you sing in choir. You put your heart in it and you inspire other people also. I think you are the one thing we need to brighten up this whole town after what happened.", said Malachi.

"Um. Thanks."

"No really I'm telling the tru..."

"Ooh. Someone has a crush.", said Kevin.

"Shut up, Kevin." We all just busted out laughing and I just shook my head because I knew both of those things were true. It was nice meeting the group. I think I will have alot of fun with these people. I will be safe. For now at least.
