Editing Services

I am so excited to share that I will be offering FREE editing services for writers on Wattpad. As a former middle and high school teacher and a life-long lover of literature (especially romance), I am thrilled to be jumping into the world of writing/editing/publishing. I have experience as a Freelance Editor, a blogger, have written several book reviews, a fiction writer, and a lover of all things reading. I also Freelance with a publishing company, so I do have that experience as well. Below you will find my specific areas of specialty along with the style of editing I use.

Let me start my telling you what my role is as your editor/proofreader. Please know that if you wish for me to proofread, I assume you are wanting the basic mechanics and errors looked over for your work. If you ask that I assist you in editing, I will be looking at all areas (listed below). It is my job to enhance your writing by keeping the authentic voice and story that you have created!

I will assist in any genre of literature.

1. Use of appropriate grammar and mechanics: spelling, capitalization, punctuation, tense (subject-verb agreement), active/passive voice, and detailed eyes on typing errors (especially pesky auto-correct that may sneak past the writer)

2. Sentence structure, syntax, repetition and clarity

3. Lining/spacing issues

4. Flow/consistencies of the story/plot/characters

I can use Microsoft Word tracking to mark any edits/changes (you can reply to those individually to keep our contact organized) or Google Docs. I am also able to use Adobe for any editing needs if you prefer PDF files. Scrivener is another writing platform that I have access to and will happily work with you on files for that software. I work mostly from a MAC, so I can easily work with Page format as well.

After I make my edits, I always offer an overall reflection/summary of my thoughts/praises/concerns/recommendations.

Please know that if I complete any work for you, I will ask that you give me credit for the chapter(s) I have edited (on Wattpad) or for the entire book (again, on Wattpad).

Should you choose to move to a publishing route outside of Wattpad, we can discuss any necessity of my services at that time.
