*Danielle's POV*

I couldn't believe how quickly it had gotten dark here in Sunnydale, it was early evening and it was as dark as midnight out there. I closed my curtains and went back to unpacking my room.
After nearly a decade in New York and a few years in Washington D.C. my mom took a job here in Sunnydale, California at a small up start art gallery and moved us here.
I had just finished sorting all of my clothes and flattened the box to add to the pile behind my door. Just as I crossed back to my bed my bedroom opened after a slight knock.
"So how's it going with the unpacking?" My mother asked.
"Good. Just have one box left but I think it's mostly decorations." I replied.
"Well take a break, dinnertime." She told me.
I waved off the last box, mostly because I was ready to be done unpacking for the day. I followed my mom out of my room, all the way down the hallway and stairs to the kitchen.
We ate dinner with pleasant conversation, mostly about me starting school tomorrow, and apparently so was the daughter of my mom's boss so that was a comforting revelation. I wasn't the only new girl starting a few months into the new year, like some loser.
Once we finished eating I loaded the dishwasher and went up to my room to just relax the rest of the night. I laid out my clothes for tomorrow, turned my radio on and laid in bed, picking up the current Fear Street book I was reading. I had a slight obsession with R.L. Stine and and all of his books and bought a new one each time he published a new book.
I read a few chapters then turned my radio off, my small fan on and ended the night with turning my lamp off and getting comfortable in bed before drifting off to sleep.

My alarm went off bright and early the next morning, well it's wasn't bright yet but I'm sure the sun was coming any time now. I turned off the alarm and sat up. I was nowhere close to being ready for this but I still got up and started getting dressed.

Once dressed I picked up my purple leather jacket and went downstairs, it looked like my mom was already at work so I just grabbed my bookbag from the living room and my car keys from the table by the door.
I walked out of the house and paused to lock the door before I walked down the front stairs and across the yard to my car. I unlocked the driver side door and got it, tossing my bookbag to the passenger seat and shutting the door. After starting the engine and backing out of the driveway I started the few minute journey to the school. I spent the majority of the weekend planning out the drive since it was a new city and everything.

I followed my memorized route and pulled into the student parking lot just as it was starting to fill up. I put my car into gear and shut off the engine. I took a deep breath, grabbed my bag and got out of the car. For as small as Sunnydale was I was surprised at the size of the school. I followed some of the kids into the school and began to look for the main office.
It took a few minutes to find it then I followed a blonde girl in to the office. I let her talk to the receptionist first then took my turn.
"Good Morning. I'm Danielle Moore, I need to see Mr. Flutie." I smiled.
"Good Morning, just have a seat with the other girl and he'll get to you soon." She smiled back.
I nodded and walked the few feet across the room and took a seat in the empty chair next to the blonde girl.
