Tommy only stared at Darryl, mentally telling him to go fuck himself. He still was not happy with Darryl. To be honest, Tommy would beat him in fight if he wanted based on the size of the man. He was average height and being lanky, all Tommy would have to do is go for the knees. If anything from working at the dock has taught him is that if someone can beat you in a 'fair' fight, fight dirty to get on top.
Stepping out of the AirCarrier, Tommy looked around him amazed but the white infrastructure around him. The buildings before had bright colors covering breathtaking titanic structures. The medical district was filled with buildings just as big but was painted pure white as well as being connected to each other with a small bridge, lined with stained glass. It made Tommy think he was at a castle from the story he heard from Deanna. He had never seen a building so clean, on the outside that is. The sheer brightness from the refracted sunlight made Tommy's eyes hurt thinking it was a bit over board, but with growing up in the darkest parts within the walls, his eyes adjusted to the dark far better.
"Wait until we get inside."
Darryl chuckled as he attempted to close Tommy's mouth by placing two fingers under his chin. Out of habit and instinct, Tommy grabbed Darryl's wrist. Tommy refrained from being his knee into the man's diaphragm and held it fast as he glared at Darryl.
"Don't fucking touch me, you son of a bitch."
Tommy hissed, throwing Darryl's hand from his face, and throwing some bad memories from his mind as he did so.
"Language!"
Darryl yelled, popping Tommy on the cheek, accidentally hitting the bruise from Reed, causing him to keel over in pain, holding his face. At this rate, Tommy's face was going to be permanently bruised. He snapped his attention back to Darryl.
"What the bloody hell?!" Tommy gasped as he stood up to Darryl, still surprised by the shy man's actions turning hostile. Darryl never wanted to strike the bruise but Darryl, none the less, stood his ground. He knew if he immediately apologized, it would make Tommy lash out, he had to meet Tommy's attitude with the same level in his own. He was goofing to stand his ground as the adult and the teacher in charge of ensuring his safety and his educational practices.
"We don't use that language here, Thomas. I don't care if you used it all the time at the orphanage."
Darryl scolded, narrowing his brow in anger. Tommy stood with his mouth agap as he held his cheek, stunned by the sudden turn of Darryl. Tommy went to correct Darryl on his name, but quickly shut his mouth not wanting to risk his bruise being darkened with another strike. It wasn't his fault he thought it was normal to curse. He grew up around adult cursing like it was apart of their normal speech, so of course at a young age he followed the adults model. He was never corrected before, so being corrected now felt completely uncalled for.
"Fine."
Tommy scoffed, putting on a tough façade as he started to tear up. The pop on the cheek brought Tommy some memories he didn't want to recall, as well as causing the pain to flare up again. Tommy stilled regret slightly bruising Darryl's wrist that was already turning into a purple and black cuff from the vast grip.
The two both stood, staring each down, before Darryl slapped on a cheerful face out of thin air, before gesturing Tommy to proceed into the building that blinded the poor teen. Tommy started forward as he gave a nasty, hateful look at Darryl, not a word or noise felt the boys month.
Walking through the large, sliding glass doors, Tommy was overwhelmed with the smell of rubbing alcohol and clean linen, the bright white walls holding crystal clear glass displaying the outside world and the technology that laid openly and unguarded. As well as the rush of cool air being pumped out by the filtering air conditioners that was built into the infrastructure. In the outer ring, any technology not bolted to the ground and locked with 20 digit passcodes, it was gone within seconds of being alone. So when Tommy saw the technology being unguarded and unlocked, something in Tommy made him want to snatch an unattended Holo-screen projector before anyone could notice, but resisted the sudden urge. Darryl on the other hand, seemed unfazed, having been here time and time again when Tubbo and Fundy were little with their parents being a lot away with work. Mostly with Fundy having multiple infections and illnesses since the boy wasn't a modified child. He was conceived naturally, his DNA was clean of any genetic tampering. Making him more susceptible to diseases that could kill him.
