The car hummed along the I95, purring as its tires sped across the pavement, the sound of heavy metal screaming from the windows and bothering other cars with more family-friendly atmospheres. A manly voice cried out to the lyrics, a hound dog in the car nearby howling as well.
"You are way too loud", Sam grumbled, staring at his phone as he went through his calls, deleting the unimportant ones as he went, turning to look at his screaming brother. "Mom called. She wants to know if we finished up that case with the vampires in Oregon, but I asked Bobby to look into it and he said that it was all taken care of".
Turning down the music, Dean smiled. "Great," he said, his hands bouncing on the wheel to the lower bass that still escaped the speakers, "less work for us. I am ready to take the best shower of my life". He bit into the burger that they had stopped for a few miles back, the juice dribbling down his chin. Sam's disgust was evident on his face, the crinkles of his nose deepening as he tossed a napkin in his brother's direction, wiping his own hands on his pants as he took a drink from the water bottle next to him.
"Dude, you are absolutely disgusting, honestly". he grumbled, pulling back out his phone. He scrolled as Dean's voice flew out the window once more, encouraging a groan from his brother. "Ya know, I think there might be a case a few miles from here, wanna look into it?" Dean shrugged, drumming his fingers on the steering wheel as he sped. "Are you still not talking to me?" Sam hummed, pulling up the location on his phone, offering the screen to his brother.
"We are talking," Dean replied, turning the music up louder to drown out any response his brother may have given. Sam shok his head, his eyes rolling back into hishead before swivelling to stare ut the window at the passing fields, the grain seemingly evaporating as they zoomed, the entire world outside the car becoming a blur. After three hours of Black Sabbath, the two brothers finally pulled into the Bradbury Motel, checking in and settling down, Dean immediately leaving to go grab dinner and Sam logging into the wifi in order to look closer into the case further.
Arriving back shortly, a distracted Sam leapt as a bag was dropped next to him, revealing a huge burger and fries, juice staining the thin wrapping and paper bag. He looked up at see his brother cleaning a gun and eating curly fries, the shine and clicking of the weapon gleaming under the rag in his brother's hand.
"You remember just being able to do this? Drive around and just solve cases, not caught upze in all that angel bullshit," Sam hummed, clicking out of the article he was investigating and instead turning to the occupied man. "I miss this, man, I don't know. Just with everything else, this is just nice". Dean nodded, a sigh escaping his lips before setting the gun down and swinging his egs around to lay comfortably, turning the television on, his unintrest in whatever Sam had to say turning to boredom. The younger groaned, walking over to stand over his brother. "What is wrong with you? I'm doing everything I can and all you can do it look at me like I'm a goddamn alien. Why won't you talk to me?" Dean sighed, the click of the tv turning off the second loudest thing in the room, the silent argument between the two screaming.
"Let's just get this hunt over with and go home," Dean muttered, rolling away to face the opposite side of the room. Sam steadied himself, the fight he had been waiting for dwindling in his body, before resigning himself to his own bed.
"Good night Dean,"
"Night"
