Cabin 16
A thunderous boom exploded outside of the train leaving behind a blinding blue light and rattling the window. Impossible not to open my eyes from slumber by such a violent demonstration of nature that would arise even the deepest of sleepers. Raising my pointer and middle finger to the opposite side of my neck to feel my pulse, the action only seems to increase the speed of heartbeat. Synchronous to me rubbing the last bit of sleep from my left eyes the window opened by strong winds taking rain in with it. Stumbling out of comfort I hasten to close the window before the water could damage any of my belongings. I tripped over my suitcase that was carelessly left beside my bunk bed. Glancing beneath the bed something siny caught my eye, it was a silver dollar. Reaching for the coin lighting appeared yet again illuminating the coin and showing off a creature with a mouth opened showing off teeth far too big for the small animal. I jumped back immediately upon seeing such an unusual sight. Reflects served me well when I jumped back onto the oak desk. Grabbing the lamb and flickering it on, I stayed focused on the area where the creature may crawl out and reveal it's hideous teeth yet again. Feeling my pulse with the same action as before I closed my eyes for just a moment to gather my wits and perhaps a bit of courage as well, for I plan to gaze upon the beast to insure my sanity. A quick glance around the room to remind myself of the surroundings of the cabin.

I like to make lists when I'm nervous, I find it helps organize my thoughts, so I began. Window, small closet, bunk bed, and door. I shook my head, I'm not satisfied... It's missing detail. I took a deep breath in and out. I tore a piece of notebook paper aggressively and fumbled until I found a pencil. A difficult process when you are on top of the oak craftsmanship, regardless I began to write instantly feeling better. A open window with rain pouring onto the light carpet leaving behind a dark spot, a small closed closet which contains a few suits of mine along with a few other belongings that didn't fit into the suitcase, a electrical lamp that I am relying on for my only source of light in the void of non-comforting darkness that is my cabin, a bunk bed that clings to the wall with a creature and coin remaining below it, and a door which I thought remained closed but to my surprise is open. The list is done and you are aware of your surroundings, now you can focus on the task at hand.
Gripping the lamb and removing the shade for more light. I got off the desk onto the creaking floor which to my fortune didn't cause the monstrosity to crawl from beneath the bed and onto my leg. Holding the lamb out in front of me underneath the bed I could examine this pleasant little surprise from the deepest depths of hell. I was frozen looking at what I could now tell was not alive to begin with. I almost laughed, it was a mere child's toy bear. How could I be startled by such a thing. Now pocketing the coin paying no attention to it and picking up the bear. I tossed the toy onto my untidy sheets and closed the window only feeling a few dozen droplets of moisture on my face and shoulders. Mission complete, no monster and window closed. Repicking up the bear I could clearly see what made my reaction. It had a wide hole where the smile of the stuffed bear would be and teeth. I couldn't stop looking at the teeth, as if I recognized the smile. The familiarity I was feeling was because it was human teeth down into the bear for some kind of sick joke. Disgusted I threw the bear into the closet so I didn't have to look at it's unnatural surgery.

Before I could reach my bed a scratching noise could be heard from inside the closet. My instant though was the bear. It had nothing hard or sharp on it aside from the teeth, making the route of the noise obvious. But that can't be possible, it's a child's toy. Taking the chair from the desk I propped the door so I had no more disturbances tonight. Knowing there is only one way to calm me down for the long night ahead of me I grabbed my portable notepad instead of the bulky notebook that I tore a page from earlier and began jotting down my thoughts.
