The second I walked in the school building, Luke was at my side. Not that I minded. He and I had talked on the phone and texted all year so we'd gotten pretty close.

"So, Mags. My buddy, Jay is having a party this Friday night. You should come. I promise there won't be any drinking or anything. Just like, maybe 15 kids just hanging out," he said in that perfect, deep voice of his. I'd told him about how my dad and Uncle Mikey had major alcohol issues before I was born and how just being around beer or anything like that makes me nervous.

"I'd love to. It sounds like fun. I'll just have to check with my parents but I'm sure they'll be cool with it."

"Great. So, I was thinking, since you don't really know Jay that well, you probably don't know the way to his house. So, would you like to go with me, like as my date?"

It took so much self control not to squeal and scream and jump up and down but somehow, I managed to say "That sounds great."

"Great. I'll pick you up at 6:45."

"How 'bout  6:30? That way, my dad will be able to meet you. House rules."

"Alright. 6:30, it is." He winked at me and walked into his classroom. Just then, the bell rang. Lucky for me, my first class was right across from Luke's.

My teacher said since it was the last day, we wouldn't be doing much so we could all just do whatever we wanted as long as we did it quietly. I pulled out my phone and texted my dad.

Daddy!

At the studio. What do you need?

Can I go to Luke's friend's party this Friday?

Which friend? How many kids will be there?

Jay and 15ish

Any alcohol?

No.

Sounds like a boring party. Let me text your mom real quick and check with her.

K.

You can go. Do I need to drive you?

Nope. Luke's picking me up at 6:30

Aww... Frank's gagging. I need to meet this boy.

That's why he's not coming at 6:45. I got this. Why is Frank reading your texts?

Alrighty. And because he needed something to entertain him.  Aren't you in class?

Oh! lol Yup.

... Ok then. Is that all you needed?

Yeah.

K. See ya at home, sweetie. x

Bye! x
