Michelle POV:
I woke up. The sun was looming behind the curtains of my room, creating a calm atmosphere. I'm not sure why, but I've always seemed to have a curiosity about the sun. Not just the way it glows. But how it emits such warmth and light, making everybody smile and laugh. The happiness doesn't last. Whenever it starts raining the atmosphere changes. We all sense that the happiness has ended. The looming feeling of pain and loss weighs down our shoulders. I've always wondered if the sun is a person or a feeling? What if the whole 'sun and weather' concept is just a cover up, for an actual person living up there, with some sort of mythical power? "I'm letting my thoughts and theories get to me again. I need to stop trailing off into my world of contemplation." I thought to myself. "I should probably call Mike. " I mused to myself thoughtfully, "He's usually up now, right? I should probably check the time."
I dragged my legs out of bed, regretting it with every passing moment. I felt so cold! Although it's July, it feels like December all over again. Why do these passing months seem colder by the minute?! It's supposed to be getting warmer, not colder. Is there something going on? Surely not. What am I thinking? There wouldn't be anything going on. It's just my body temperature. These stupid conspiracy theories aren't going to get me anywhere. I need to focus on my studies. Wait, I was going to call Mike, wasn't I? I grabbed my phone and dialled his number. He picked up after about 3 rings.
"Hey." I spoke into the speaker.
"Hi Elle," he replied tiredly.
"You seem tired. Rough night?" I asked sympathetically.
He yawned loudly. "Guess you could say that. I was studying all night for the arithmetic test. Have you finished the booklets we were given on Monday?"
"Haha," I giggled audibly. " I finished them all on Tuesday evening!" I study quite hard for my education. I have an ambition to become a detective or police officer when I'm an adult . I've always been into mystery stories and detectives, books like that.
"Hello? Earth to Elle! " Mike yelled down the speaker. "I've been here for like 5 minutes listening to you ramble on about stuff about detectives!"
"Oh sorry Mike!! I guess I spaced out again.. heh.."
"It's alright. I'm going to go and study now, as I'm falling behind again, haha."
He hung up and I began to get changed, I was wearing a white fluffy hoodie at the moment, I took it off and put on my blue wash ripped jeans and white turtle neck. I began to brush through my hazel brown long hair, entangling my fingers in the knotted strands. Should I put my hair up? Or leave it down? I'm going to leave it down for more warmth. I thought while combing my hair absent-mindedly. My ocean blue eyes flickered towards the curtains and lit up, I got up to open them. My fingers lingered on the fabric for a second and I opened them slowly, letting the sunlight engulf my body. It felt wonderful! Just feeling it hit my skin made me feel warmer. It's great being able to do stuff like this . My mother was out of town for the week as she could 'trust a mature sixteen year old like me' not to set the house on fire while she was gone. I have always been different and further along in my education than others my age. This always made making friends harder for me than other children as I would always use more advanced vocabulary than others my age. But Mike understood me . We were always like brother and sister, attached at the hip. We were never able to be separated! We were always together, some way or another. If we weren't seeing each other in person we would be skyping each other.
