"Omy" my little sister whined dragging out the y, "Yes Amy what's wrong?" I asked slightly worried as I made her lunch and put it in her bag. "it's Father's Day tomorrow and everyone is bringing their dadda can you come, pweas?" she looked up at me with puppy dog eyes. "I have sc..." I stopped when I saw her tiny eyes fill with tears. "of course, I can come princess" I said as I picked her up and hugged her.

The next morning, I called Alex to cover for me at school since I was going to Amy's school for Father's Day. We walked together down the street to her school, her small hand in my large one and her pink princess bag on my shoulder. She was the only girl in my life and that's the way it was going to stay, she was my princess my only family, I was distracted by another girl once but I won't let that happen again.

I looked around at all the fathers knowing they would judge me thinking I'm a young father but I promised Amy I would be her father today so here I am. Looking around the room as Amy played with her friends I saw a girl around my age holding a crying little boy in her arms, unless she was a young mother and the father left there was no other reason for her to be here. I walked over and knelt down to talk to the boy who was Charlie one of Amy's friends. "hey Charlie what's wrong?" I asked softly, Charlie looked up at me and jumped into my arms I responded quickly and hugged him tightly. The girl just looked at me as I stood up holding Charlie. "How do you know my brother? He's not usually this affectionate with strangers." She glared at me.

Ah so the pretty girl was his sister. Wait what? Pretty, I mean she is but why am I thinking that. Girls have no place in my life other than my sister. "He's best friends with my little sister Amy." At this Charlie looked up, "Amy? Where is she?" I put him down and pointed her out to him. He ran over to her and the two embraced. I'm happy she has found such a good friend.

The pretty girl, Charlie's sister looked at them then back at me, "So how come I have never met you before?" she asked slightly hostile. "Look I don't know, I didn't even know he had a sister but can you just drop the hostility?" I looked at her blankly. She blinked like I had offended her but I didn't care. A small part of me wanted to apologise but I wouldn't. I have done nothing wrong I don't need to apologise for anything.

I walked off since she didn't offer anything about herself. Hopefully the day would go quickly.

It didn't. The day dragged on with Father's Day activities and crafts but because Charlie and Amy are friends, they sat at the same table so I had to sit with the pretty sister. Finally, the day ended and carrying Amy's princess bag home was a welcomed thought. As we got home, I looked at little Amy "did you have a good day princess?" She smiled up at me and hugged me tightly "you're the best dad ever."

I smiled and kissed her head, "your welcome princess now go have a bath and get ready for bed and I'll make your favourite dinner. How does that sound?" she smiled and hugged me again "YAY thank you so much this has been the best day ever!!!" She squealed and ran to the bathroom to get ready for bed.

I went to the kitchen to make mac and cheese for Amy as the thoughts of another girl filled my head. No! This can't happen there's no point thinking about her. She will hurt me and distract me I need to be here for Amy. I hear small thuds coming down the hall towards me then a small body throws itself against my legs shaking. Bending down and picking her up and holding her against my chest whispering softly "Hey princess what happened? What's wrong?" She looks up at me as I set on the kitchen counter and cup her small face in my hands and wipes her tears away gently.

"I heard a scary noise." She says and her crystal eyes fill with tears again. I hold her against me and kiss her head. "Do you want me to come with you and see what it was?" I say softly. Amy looks up and me and slowly nods, I help her of the bench and hold her hand as she leads me to where the noise came from. I look down at her "Are you sure it was coming from my room?" she nods. I tell her to go lock herself in the bathroom and not come out until I tell her. She looks scared but I kiss her head and tell her to go. She looks at me once more then goes and does as I asked.

I slowly open the door to my room and turn the light on. And there sitting on the window sill is my mother. Well who used to be my mother but is now no one to me. "what do you want?" I spoke in a cold harsh tone. "I just want to see her" she rasps. "NO!" She is my family not yours anymore. You forfeited that right of being any relation to her when you left dad. Get out." I growled standing in front of my door with my arms crossed. The women looked slightly scared.

"Where is your father, boy?" She asked trying to look intimidating but it was defiantly not working her 5'4 frame stood below my 6'4 muscular body. "My father? How can you even ask that? You're the one that killed him." I said blankly keeping my emotions in check. "After you left him with nothing, you took the house, the car, his money." Shaking my head slowly

"He died of grief you caused him. So, don't you come to this house ever again, she is not your child and never will be. Get out of my house." I said lowly and cold. She doesn't deserve any mercy. "Go back to your big empty house. If I ever see you here again, I will call the cops on you. You're on my property without my permission. Get out" She finally looked defeated and sighed and left.

I went to the bathroom and knocked on the door "Amy? Princess open the door its safe now." The door slowly opened and Amy attached herself to my legs. I picked her up "come on princess your dinner is getting cold." I said softly carrying her to the kitchen and sitting her at the table. "What was the noise Omy?" I heated up the mac and cheese and gave her the biggest portion as I would always go hungry if it meant she was full. "Nothing Princess don't worry some papers just blowing in my room because I left the window open." She accepted this answer and ate her dinner quietly.

The next day I walked with her to drop her off at school and saw Charlie's hot sister again. I need to get her out of my head. I knelt down and asked Amy "what's Charlie's sisters name?" she giggled and replied "Jasmine" she kisses my cheek and runs off with Charlie into school.

I see Jasmine looking at me out the corner of my eye and I put my blank face back in place and walk towards my motor bike which I had parked the day before after going for a late-night ride then ran home to clear my mind after my mother's visit. I saw her watching me as I got on my bike and drive off towards school.
