Chapter One

BEEP BEEP BEEP!!! BEEP BEEP BEEP!!! Natalie's alarm clock beeped loudly as she groaned. Time for the first day of high school. Natalie reluctantly rolled out of bed to prepare herself. She scrolled through her Insta as she brushed her teeth, smiling when she saw that her friend Indigo had gotten a dog.

The bus pulled up to Mount View High as Natalie pulled out her earbuds, preparing herself for the merciless assignments and teachers. As she stepped off the bus, she noticed a familiar ocean blue beanie covering dark brown locks and pink jacket under golden curls. "Alex! Indi! Hi!!!" Natalie called out to them, grinning as Indigo rushed over to hug her. "Nat!!!! I missed you so much!!!" Indigo squealed, her blonde curls bouncing around as she wrapped her arms around Natalie.                                                                                                                                                                                               "Yo Indi, chill, you saw her two days ago at the movies." Alex said, trying to hide a smile.                   "Yeah, but not at school!" Indi grinned, letting go of Natalie, as she went to go drag their other friends over to them. Natalie stood there awkwardly next to Alex, wondering if she should say anything. "So...who do you have for science?" Natalie asked, cringing at her question. "Miller." Alex spoke quietly, looking distantly over at a group of girls. He didn't like someone, did he? Natalie had caught feelings for him last year, and had no idea if he liked her back. She tried to find who had caught his eye, then it landed on her. Sophie. "You like Sophie, don't you?" Natalie teased, nudging Alex with her shoulder. "No....I.....I don't!" Alex stammered, his face flushing. Oh no. Alex never got flustered, or even stammered. He must like Sophie. Just then, Indi came back dragging her friends Cindi, a pretty brunette with hazel eyes, and Noah, a jokester with blue eyes and tousled brownish blonde hair, along. "Someone has a crush," Natalie singsonged, teasing Alex as he punched her arm, his face flushing again. "Bro, what? Who's the lucky- or should I say unlucky- girl?" Noah grinned, happy to have something to tease him for. Suddenly the school bell rang, and Natalie watched as Noah interrogated Alex, trying to find who he liked as they walked in the school. Natalie watched solemnly as she chatted with Indi and Cindi. Alex had a crush on Sophie, the most popular girl in the school. This wouldn't be a good year.
