Elliots POV

As I made my way to my locker, I felt it. It was a gut feeling, I knew there was something or someone awaiting me at my locker. I tore through the crowded hallways keeping my head down, I know it sounds weak but it's just much easier at this point. As I approached my locker, there he was, Alec Grey.

"Elliot. I've been waiting, what the hell took so long?" He said, glaring at me. I tried to keep my distance from him but that wasn't exactly how he wanted to play this little game of ours. He switched our positions, pinning me against the locker, and with one hand grabbed my cheeks.

"Fucking hell, do you ever talk? You used to cry and at least put up some fight when we first started this." Alec said, the annoyance easily growing on his face. This was true, when I first moved here in my last year of middle school, I used to cry and beg them to stop and just leave me alone. It was just last year that I realized it did no good, no one cared if I cried or even begged, why not just save myself the energy?

Alec released the grip he had on my face resulting in me letting go of the breath I didn't know I was holding in. The bell rang and at the snap of someone's fingers, all the kids disappeared into their designated classrooms. I heard footsteps but just slid down to the floor with my back propped up on the locker.

I found myself zoning out as I heard the footsteps coming closer and closer, I couldn't take another year of this. I had to get out, one way or another. Plans to escape were running through my head when I noticed the footsteps stopped.

"Elliot? Are you alright?"

I refused to look at whoever this mysterious voice was and decided it might just be easier to nod.

"Let me help you up." The deep voice said reaching for my hand. I flinched, pulling my hand away, eyes darting to the face of the person crouched beside me. I took in his features for a moment before looking at the ground.

Preston Blank, the only person in the school smarter than me. Unlike me, he was not made fun of for his intelligence but that's also because he could easily beat the hell out of anyone who even tried. Preston had black hair that was short but long enough for his bangs to hang a little bit in front of his face. He had piercing blue eyes that were currently staring at me, burning a hole in the side of my head.

"Hey, I'm not going to hurt you. Let me just help you up, please?" he said softly, extending his hand as a gesture to help me up.

"Preston, are you fucking dense?" A deep voice growled at the one person in this school who has ever offered me help.

"No, but you sure as hell are if you think I'm going to continue shit like this. Grow the fuck up, will you?" Preston snapped at Alec.

Alec Grey was head jackass. Alec was your typical bad boy, fast car, smokes cigarettes like no one's business, girls falling at his feet, and having the reputation that causes the entire school to part like the Red Sea when he walks anywhere.

The only thing that didn't add up to me was that his home life was ideal; rich parents who love him with everything they have. I live next door to Alec, I have since I've moved here and I would do anything to have the type of parents he has.

My parents are also rich, but unlike Alec's parents, mine don't give a rats ass about me. I feel like a trophy daughter to them, they parade me around with my awards and good grades to clients and potential clients but refuse to even have dinner with me.

Tired of whatever was going on around me, I picked myself up off the ground and walked away. I turned around and gave Preston one last look before turning the corner. I headed to the principal's office, he's typically very understanding of the.. situation I'm in.
