To truly love and be loved is one of the greatest acheivements of mankind. It takes months, years even, to forge an even partially steady relationship with someone. So why is it, that in most books, there is love at first sight. Let's look into this.
I do not believe that love at first sight is a common cliche, or even that bad. It just seems that it immediately happens out of the blue. If you are perhaps writing a romance novel, this would most likely be uncharacteristic of the genre, or perhaps not, if that is the purpose of the novel. The problem is that it seems so unrealistic, for such a realistic genre.
I am not saying to stop the "love at first sight" storyline, if you want to write a book, you can write a book. I am not inclined or going to stop you from writing a story as such. I am merely advising to think about the genre and if it seems too unrealistic for the story.
