One minute later and the plan was ready

Claire motioned to María to look at Omar who seemed like he was looking for someone. She grew nervous. He's surely not looking for me. His gaze finally met the girls'. María quickly turned around with her eyes wide open. Fuck! One deep breath and Omar was on his way to the girls' table.

"Hi Omar"

Greeted Claire. 

"Wassup Claire?"

"Oh you know, the same as usual"

María sat there awkwardly, she didn't know what to do. Claire then motioned to Jakob to get up with her.

"But anyways, Jakob and I got somewhere to be so we'll see you guys later!"

"Byye"

"Bye"

María said dryly, she knew that Claire would pull a stunt like this but it still shook her that Claire actually did it. She then turned her attention on Omar who just sat down in front of her. 

"Hi Omar"

There was some tension in the air, but it wasn't enough for the both of them to feel suffocated.

"Hi María"

He said with an awkward little hand wave.

"Hi"

María giggles softly. Omar's heart melted at the sound her giggling.

"How have you been this week?"

"I've been busy, you know, with activites and all that other stuff"

María enriched the truth. That "other stuff" being her feelings, that is. 

"Same."

They were both interrupted from their so called "conversation" when M. Sherman started yelling at children, simply because they were laughing too loudly. Omar not wanting the conversation to get dry and end already, quickly asked a question.

"Is it just me or is M. Sherman really annoying?"

The girl laughs and nods her head in agreement.

"He's always been annoying. The legend says that his first words were 'silence children!'"

They cackle along together. And in that moment, María felt bad that she avoided him. She felt like she missed out on so many great moments of goofing around with him. 

The laughter died down. Omar took a brief moment to recollect his toughts.

"Yeah! So hum, I'm going to the lake to take a swim since it's hot outside"

He took a small pause.

"Oh ok, I guess I'll see you later"

"Would you like to join me?"

They both said at the same time. The teens laughed together once again.

"Yeah I'd like to"

She had a bright smile on her face. Which didn't get unnoticed by Omar. He smiled like a fool.

"When are we going?"

"Are you free right now?"

"Yeah I am"

They were walking down a path in the forest, which lead to the lake. A few squirrel were running down a tree. Almost as if they were playing tag together. The squeaking they made, made both María and Omar flinch as if the tiny beasts would jump on them and attack them. At this point they were so terrified of being beat up by squirrels, that they were running away from the tree. 

The teens finally arrived at the lake, where a dozen of children and teens were splashing water at their peers and screaming for no reason other than for fun. María located a rock that had nothing on it, so she put down her towel on that rock. Omar followed after her and did the same. 

"Loser has to give the winner their dessert for 2 days"

"Deal"

Said María while shaking his hand.

"GOOO!"

She yelled. María wanted to be sure to win the desserts. She loved them so much, mainly because they were Gladys' recipe. And that Gladys cooks the best (after María's mom and her abuela obviously). 

She was running as fast as she could towards the water. When she finally arrived at the lake, she threw herself in it as if she was a jogger finally hitting the end line. Fortunately for María, she did win.

I know it's been a while since I've updated but hey, here's a new chapter tehe
