"Hmm... what's going on here? Mom can you come see for a sec,"

"What is it Blake?" Jill asked.

"Can you take a look through the telescope? I think there's something's wrong with the sun,"

Jill looked through the telescope and saw the sudden changes. She had a subtle, worried look on her face; but she made sure not to make her son worry.

"I wouldn't be too worried here son," Jill lied. "It's just the sun going through a normal cycle,"

"Mom, I know that you used to be an astrologist and solar meteorologist when you worked at the American Sector Space Administration and you know something is going on. Tell me, how long has the sun been around?" Blake asked.

"Since the beginning of earth's lifetime, I would say about 5 billion years. What are you getting at Blake? That are sun is about to go red giant?"

"Yes, that's what I'm thinking right now. The sudden changes in the sun's surface, the increase in global temperatures and the age of the sun all point that it's going into its next phase in its life, the red giant stage," Blake explained.

"Blake, ever since the year 8970, the then, Space Administration and the military has been sending the nuclear fuel to the sun, there's enough extra fuel in it to last it for another trillion years," Jill rebutted.

"But mom,"

"But nothing Blake, now come on, we need to get the last of the supplies for your graduation party tomorrow," Jill said.

Blake sighed as he and Jill left the house and went into town. They went to the nearby grocery store to get the food and party supplies. Just as they got to the register to pay for the stuff, the entire planet began to shake, as if one major earthquake was hitting all at once.

"Mom, what's going on?" Blake asked.

"I don't know, there's no fault line around here," Jill replied.

As the earthquake intensified more and more people were running into the building than running out.

"Come on mom; let's go check it out,"

Blake and Jill went outside. The ground was still shaking as people were scrambling to find safety. Jill looked up and saw something horrific.

"No.... that's impossible," Jill stammered.

Blake looked up and his eyes widened. "I knew it.... I knew this was going to happen but.... But not this soon,"

What Blake and Jill were looking at was the sun. It had a deep orange-red color and was fifty times larger in the sky. It was so big that everyone could see flares coming from the surface. The people that were outside were panicking and some of them went into the mall and started looting the stores. Blake went into the car, and grabbed a couple of megaphones and gave one to his mom.

"EVERYONE PLEASE, CALM DOWN AND RETURN TO YOUR HOMES," Jill said.

No one was listening to Jill. She tried again to calm down the frightened people; but after a few more tries, Blake was getting irritated; he went on top of the car and turned the volume on his megaphone to full power.

"EVERYONE SHUT THE HELL UP AND LISTEN TO MY MOM!" Blake yelled.

Jill was shocked to hear her son being this informal; but what was more shocking was that everyone stopped what they were doing and looked towards their direction. Blake jumped off the car and landed right beside his mom.

"There you go mom,"

Jill shook off her brief shock. She then looked at the crowd as she was held up the megaphone.
