Long-Distance (First Time Meeting)

February 14, 2021 - 5 a.m.

Miguel was pacing back and forth in his room, he was super jittery and excited. Why? Today was the day he'd meet his long-distance girlfriend, Caitlyn, for the first time. At this point, they'd been together for 7 months today. Ironically, their 7 month anniversary is today, Valentine's Day. In about an hour, him and his dad would be traveling to the U.S. to surprise Cait. He hadn't told her he was coming, and even better, he told her he'd be visiting in the summer instead. She has no idea that he's coming all the way from Canada.

- 5:30 a.m.

At this point, Miguel and his Dad arrived at the airport. Since they're filipino, they were pretty early, 30 minutes before their flight. Miguel then decided to text his girlfriend.

"goodmorning bebe <3 i hope you slept well. text me as soon as you wake up, beautiful."

Miguel sighed. His girlfriend rarely wakes up early. It was only 6:55 where she was. He definitely didn't expect a text back from her. Honestly, what was the point in the text? He was going to see her early in the morning, anyways. He decided to look at pictures and videos of her in his photo gallery. On his face formed a big smile. He couldn't wait to be able to hug her.

- 7:55 a.m.

Finally, Miguel had arrived to the Chicago O'Hare International Airport. He was extremely tired, though he couldn't fall asleep during the flight no matter how hard he tried. He was way too excited to the point where it kept him awake. Him and his Dad stayed in the airport for about 10 minutes to get food, and once they were done, they took an Uber to the nearest place they could pick their rented vehicle up from. It was 8:45 when they left and got their rented vehicle. At this point, they were at least 15 minutes away from Caitlyn's house. Miguel didn't expect to be this nervous, but there were butterflies in his stomach. He was super nervous. He was holding all the gifts he had bought her. A promise ring, a necklace, his jersey and his hoodie, her favorite snacks, a new hoodie, and "Open when..." letters. His hands were sweating so much the items could slip out at any time.

30 minutes later - Caitlyn's House

Miguel rang her doorbell and her Mom opened it.

Miguel: Hi, Titaa!

Caitlyn's Mom: Miguel! I'm glad you guys had a safe trip.

Miguel's Dad: Thank you! We brought all of you guys Jollibee for later. I'm gonna leave to book a hotel for Miguel and I. If Mr. Valenzuela approves then Miguel is free to stay at your place!

Caitlyn's Mom hugged Miguel as well as his Dad. Then, Miguel took his backpack full of his things as well as Caitlyn's gifts and put them in her room. After he was done, Caitlyn's Mom came with her phone, already recording, to record this memory. Miguel said "Caitlyn, wake up," and guess what.. her lazy ass didn't even BUDGE. Her Mom gave him permission to lay in the bed with her, so, he did. She woke up and didn't realize what was happening at first. Quite honestly, she was scared, but she was half awake so she didn't have a reaction to someone hugging her in bed. She turned around and covered her mouth in shock.

Caitlyn: OH MY GOD!

She hid her face in his chest and started crying.

Miguel: Come on, bebe. Get up.

He got up and lifted her from her bed. She fixed her hair and looked at him. She had tears in her eyes which made Miguel feel bad. She then jumped right into his arms and her Mom recorded every bit of it.

Caitlyn: Mama go awayyy, we're going to sleep.

Caitlyn's Mom: Okay, I'll leave you two alone ha.

Miguel: We'll be awake around 11!

Caitlyn closed the door and hugged Miguel again. She also smacked him out of nervousness.

Caitlyn: I thought you were coming in the summer, dummy.

Miguel: That's why it's called a SURPRISE.

Caitlyn: You're so dumb.

Miguel went to lay down.

Miguel: Bubby, I'm tired. Wanna sleeeppp? I wake you up in an hour.

Caitlyn: Yeth.

Caitlyn also lays down and lays her head on his chest. She can hear his heartbeat and she almost can't believe this is real life.

Caitlyn: I love you.

Miguel's heart skips a beat. He's never heard her say that in person, only over a simple call. But, it felt so different and gave him a tingly feeling. Hearing her say "I love you" was like music to his ears.

Caitlyn: HOYYYY, why didn't you say it back.

Miguel jumped.

Miguel: Oops, sowwy. I love you, too.

Caitlyn smacked him again and they fell asleep together. Almost 2 hours later, Miguel woke up, and Caitlyn was still in the same position. He smiled and grabbed his phone. He snapped a picture of her. After he took a picture of her, he put his phone down and nudged her.

Miguel: Hoy, are you dead?

Caitlyn grunted and opened her eyes. She looked at him, and smiled. She put her head down and hugged him tightly.

Miguel: Get upppp.

Caitlyn: Can I not hug you???

Miguel: Okay, fine sorry.

Caitlyn got up and looked angry. Miguel started tickling her and she collapsed and started laughing. He stopped tickling her and asked if she was hungry, so they went into the living room to eat. Her Mom beat them to it.

Caitlyn's Mom: Sorry, guys. I was hungry.

Both Caitlyn and Miguel laughed.

Miguel: OH MY GOSH, can I see Casey and Clay!?

Caitlyn: Yes, let's go downstairs!

They both made their way downstairs and Casey was making a TikTok.

Caitlyn: Casey, Miguel's here!

Casey: No he's not, stop lying.

Miguel came down and Casey was surprised. She smiled and ran to wrap around his legs because of how tall he was.

Miguel: Awww, she's so cute.

Caitlyn giggled and they all went upstairs to eat Jollibee. Only 15 minutes into their meal, someone was coming from the end of the hallway. It was Clay. When they arrived to the kitchen, they smiled.

Clay: Guess what, I knew he was coming HAHA.
They started dancing.

Caitlyn: Dude, you suck. You should've at least told me to look pretty today. I look so bad right now, surprised Miguel hasn't run away.

Miguel: Hindi naman, ang ganda sha dibaaa, Tita?

Cait's Mom laughed and Cait blushed to hide her face.

Cait's Mom: Ahhh nga kilig sha.

Cait: Stop.

10 minutes later

They finished eating and Miguel took all the dishes to the sink and started washing his plate.

Cait's Mom: No, that's okay Miguel. You guys can change so I can bring you somewhere.

Miguel smiled and said "thank you." Cait and Miguel then went to Cait's room and changed to wear nicer clothes since Miguel planned on bringing Cait on a shopping spree with his extra money.
