The train came to a halt. I looked out the window to see the school. There's only one word I could think of to describe it-

BREATHTAKING!

We got off the train to meet Hagrid. While he was talking about the rules, I couldn't help but stare at the school. It was bigger than life. It was like a castle.

"Enjoying the view, are we?" A boy with almost white hair asked.

"Yeah, kind of," I said.

"I'm Draco, Draco Malfoy, by the way," he explained. "You must be new? You should hope to get Slytherin. I know we have sort of a bad rep, but-"

"Stay away from her Malfoy!" Harry interrupted.

"Potter!" Draco hissed. "Sticking up for the new girl, how sweet."

Harry pushed Draco out of the way and grabbed my arm furiously. We follow the rest of the kids to the door.

"I thought we told you stay away from Malfoy!" He scolded.

"I didn't know it was him," I lied.

"Just stay away from him...please," he begged.

"I will," I promised.

At diner, I was placed in Gryffindor. Harry, Ron, and Hermione introduced me too there friends. I met Ron's older twin brothers, Fred and George, and Ron's younger sister, Ginny. I also met Seamus Finnigan and Dean Thomas. Then, I met Neville Longbottom. He was in most my classes so he agreed to show me around.

A week later, I was unable to sleep because of a recurring nightmare. It was the same one I had trouble with growing up. In the dream, I was tortured. All kinds of horrifying torture, physical and mental. And in the end, just before I wake up, a horrifying creature held a knife to my heart, and is about to kill me when I wake up screaming.

I got out of bed and ran out of the room crying. I ran downstairs and out into the courtyard. I stopped when I saw none other than Draco Malfoy sitting on a bench bawling his eyes out.

"What are you waiting for?" he asked with his back to me. "Go tell everyone Draco Malfoy is a cry baby."

"This is some rich stuff, but I'll have to pass," I explained.

"Why not?" He asked.

"You'd have to tell everyone I'm a cry baby too," I explain.

He turns to look at me. His face is all red and his eyes are puffy. My face probably looked the same. I sat down next to him on the bench.

"I'm a monster, Evelynn, I'm a monster!" He exclaimed as he bursts into tears.

"What?" I asked.

"I've done horrible things," he explained. "Whatever I'm told to do I have to do them. I have to make my father proud. I have no choice."

"It doesn't make you a monster, Draco," I say. "Monsters are big and scary."

"Monsters are real, they live inside us, they put up a fight, and sometimes, they win," he stated.

"What?" I asked.

"It's something my old friend use to say," he explained."So, why were you crying?"

"Oh nothing, just a nightmare," I explained.

"Oh," he said.

After that it was silent. We both stared off into space. I sort of felt bad for Draco. I don't know why Harry hated him so much. If only Harry knew the truth.

"Thank you, Evelynn, for keeping me company tonight," he thanked.

"I-I-" I started.

Before I could finish my sentence, he kissed me on the cheek. His lips were warm on my cold cheek. I'd never been kissed before.

He said goodnight and walked away. I felt happy for about three seconds, until I realized... I broke my promise.
