"Jane! Hurry up!"I yelled to my friend.

"I'm coming Sally. I just need to find a spare reed..." she trailed off. I groaned. This was going to take forever!

After a while Jane found an unbroken reed for her oboe, and we set off to find a good spot to busk for the afternoon. We arrived at the market and found that there was still quite a crowd of shoppers wandering around.

As we set up, a woman with bleached blonde hair and way too much makeup on walked towards us. She seemed about to say something, but then stopped and hung back. That was strange. Oh well. I gave the signal to Jane and we started to play an overture, with her on the oboe and me on the violin. When we had finished, the crowd clapped and coins showered into my violin case. The woman hesitated, as if deciding whether to come over, then walked purposely towards us.

"Hello there, my name's Marigold. I'm from the company Model Girlz, we need a model for the newest contract we've signed up for, and I think you just might be perfect for it." I looked at Jane and stepped to the side. She couldn't be talking to me. Even my name was plain. Sally Brown. There was absolutely nothing interesting or pretty about me. Jane, on the other hand, was pretty and smart, even though she was on the shorter side.

"You, the tall one." I looked up from my intent shoe inspection. "Yes, you." Marigold repeated. "Here's my card. Have a think and call me when you have decided yes."

"Wait, but why do you think I will say..." I trailed off. This woman, Marigold, had already gone, fading into the crowd as if she was a ghost that was never even there.

"That was weird." said Jane.
