How About Now

Prologue

(The best idea would be to read the first book Always Forever... yes there's another book What About Us?  I'm working on in my profile but I couldn't stop thinking about this one... )

" Five, remember when the masked men came to our house?" Vanya was sitting on the living room couch reading a book. Her long hair fell gently over her shoulders. 

" Yeah," Five sighed as he stirred his black coffee. " I was so scared for you." 

" For me? You almost died Five!" Vanya scoffed wryly. Her heart still fell when she thought about the incident. Five was lying on the floor, his blood pooling. She remembers her screams that pierced through the night. Most importantly, she remembered the shock wave she had thrown. Nothing like that had happened since the incident. She still thought about it from time to time. 

No one bothered to bring it up. It might've been the trick of the eyes. It always stirred in the back of Vanya's head though.

" Stop thinking about that," Five laughed. He sipped his coffee. " I'm here with you, right now! Everything's going to be fine!"

Truth was, he was shaken up after the experience. That night, as the pain pierced through him, he felt his breathing slow. He was looking at Vanya over him. She was sobbing and he couldn't even hug her. He was helpless. He wasn't scared to die. He was scared to lose Vanya. 

He pushed down the lump in his throat. It wasn't an experience to laugh about. He could never forget the cries from Vanya as he closed his eyes. Five pushed the thought away. 

" Are you okay?" Vanya asked Five. Five nodded and smiled. He continued to drink his coffee. He wasn't going to leave Vanya ever. He went over and kissed her on the cheek. She smiled and returned one on the lips. Five wasn't planning on leaving Vanya anytime soon. He promised.
