Admittedly, Jasper Hale was rather hesitant when his older brother proposed a sparring session in the woods near their house. After all, their father had entrusted Jasper himself to teach others the best ways to fight in either altercations or battles but perhaps Emmett was being sincere and merely wished to either learn something from his younger brother or even test it against his own methods of fighting. Either way, Jasper slowly retreated from his book and gave in after Emmett lingered in front of him, refusing to leave until he got the answer he wanted.

Emmett Cullen was the oldest of the trio of Cullen brothers and made sure they knew about it with every given opportunity. Of course, it was all in brotherly fun, but it didn't stop either Edward or Jasper from eventually trying to fight him when their patience was tested. Edward was nowhere to be seen, and Jasper had challenged his combat skills in front of everyone, so this would be the perfect opportunity to remind Jasper that there were other techniques on how to defeat an opponent. Once they were in the woods, Jasper looked across his surroundings and already wished he'd just ignored Emmett.

"Please enlighten me as to why we're out here?" Jasper questioned sounding tired in his voice and his eyes surprisingly looking more closed than open. He usually gave his peers an intimidating stare whether he realized it or not. Emmett, on the other hand, seemed excited and raring to go for whatever it was he had planned. The eldest brother even rubbed his hands together and smiled.

"Well, you say you're ways of fighting are the best, right?" Emmett answered with his own question.

Jasper was already bored with this conversation. If it was going to get heated over someone else's suggestion he couldn't be bothered to repeat it.

"Carlisle said that, not me," Jasper quickly said back.

"Relax, I'm not here to argue," Emmett explained, sensing Jasper's irritation from the topic being brought up again. "All I wanted was to put your fighting moves against mine. See how better you are than me."

"You make it sound like a video-game."

"Exactly, so let's have fun. No competition here," Emmett started. "Unless you're afraid of a little competition that is."

Goading wasn't going to work against Jasper and yet, there he was standing himself to prepare for Emmett's attack. He'd entertain it for a while and simply restrain his brother until the vampire jock got tired. He may have been a good fighter, but he was more brawn than tactics. So it was all about making sure that he didn't allow Emmett to get in his head - that was the best way to distract someone from a fight. Unfortunately for the younger brother, there wasn't really much of a defense for what Emmett had in store for him but he was going to learn that very soon.

"Just shut up and make your move," Jasper demanded, arching two fingers back and forth toward him to signal his brother that he was ready to go. "Bring it on."

And without hesitation, Emmett dashed in the direction his brother stood, eager to act out his plan. He was sure Jasper wouldn't be so smug once he'd gotten started. Emmett immediately rushed to grab Jasper and to the human eye, it would have seemed like a flicker that they'd miss with a blink. But to them, it was a battle for who could shut the other one up.

With Emmett wrapping his arms around Jasper's leg, it seemed like he was going for some form of classic wrestling takedown but Jasper wasn't used to being grounded in bouts with Emmett. Usually, the athletic vampire would attempt something on the lines of picking the longer-haired sibling up and then throwing him down. Emmett was the type to show off and then get the job done. Little did Jasper understand that he was about to be a part of the show Emmett had premeditated while thinking of ways to humiliate his younger brother.
