In my opinion, Hinata's personality is not SO bad(except for the beginning where she could barely speak out loud). I'll admit, Hinata is pretty, kind and a half decent mother(she is still not the best though). I also admit that Hinata is really good with her Byakugan(not counting tripping on a rock) and she is skilled as a Hyuga. However, she is ALWAYS getting saved/healed by other characters and is not very confident in herself.
