Chapter I : 16....almost

I woke up with the cold winter breeze running through my room. Oh no! I left the window open...again! This was the third time this week mum is gonna be mad. We use our stone stove to heat our house and I just let all the heat out. I jumped up, shot to the window and closed it.

We live in a little cottage in the town of Thimes ruled by Queen Ethereal. She takes all of our money leaving enough for two meals a day and other necessities. I got up and went to eat breakfast I found my mum and sister, Lia were there. Mum was cooking leftover meat from dinner."Oh yum" I said glumly. Lia left going outside to play, she was only six. With chocolate hair and the same colored eyes. We looked nothing alike at all but we were siblings"Oh max you know this is all we can afford right now." She sighed. "Well yeah bu-." I stopped I knew she was right and I didn't want her to feel bad "alright". I got a fork and went to eat when my palm burned horribly. I started howling in pain. "Max honey what's wrong" my mother said. "My hand burns really bad, like it is being burned after it was stabbed over and over by this fork." I looked at my palm where my scar was, it looked like a triangle with a cross made out of circles in the middle. It was red and that's where it was burning. My mum seem to know what was going on and she looked worried. "What?" I said getting scared.

"You're 16 soon." She said like she was just realizing that fact.

"Yeah, in two days." I mumbled getting a little more excited.

"Me and your father have something to tell you when he gets home." She said, I could tell she was trying to not cry in front of me by the salty water building in her eyes.

"Ok." That wasn't good why was my scar hurting and my mum was acting weird. I'm thinking this scar isn't from when I put my hand on the stove when I was an infant. It was shaped like that on purpose I just knew it! I heard the door slam and my dad walked through the door. My mom whispered to him and he looked miserable immediately. He told me to go to my room so I walked in there. After minutes moved the little wooden door that was decaying in spots, and listened.

"We shou- no, we need to tell him" said my mum.

"No not yet, tomorrow." said dad

"We've waited too long already though."

"No just no, not today."

"Alright dear" dad started to leave "where are you going" continued my mom."I need some time to think for a little bit." He replied with a grimace
