Ivy Routledge has lived in New York since she was 9 after her parents divorce was finally finalized, making her leave her twin brother, John B and best friend/school girl crush JJ behind.
Now that it's 7 years later and finally summer, news of her father's disappearance finally gets back to her and her mother so Ivy makes her way back to the Outer Banks, different from when she left.
Ivy is now considered a Kook, as her mother is a very successful fashion designer and her stepfather is a big time lawyer.
When Ivy gets back home, she is thrown into the mission of finding the Royal Merchant wreck with her twin brother and his best friends.
Old feelings also start to come out when Ivy and JJ's old feelings merge to the surface, all while Rafe Cameron makes it his mission to get the Routledge girl into his grasp.
